I believe Benjen is far more likely to be dead than alive, unless he's Coldhands. I haven't got any special knowledge, so don't read too much into it - I had to put him down as one or the other!

Yeah, I agree, it's just wishful thinking on my part that he's alive.

Re: the recent list, Sweetrobin isn't dead yet either! And I'm really surprised that Quentyn had more mentions than Arianne, even though he had more POV chapters, I guess.

The one about Aegon the Conqueror being the highest non-speaking character is one I'm not entirely sure about. I think Aerys and Rhaegar both have lines somewhere, though I'm not sure I can quote them! Do let me know if you spot a higher candidate for that position.

Which other whores did you have in mind as competing for the post? The only other one I can think of is Alayaya and she's well down the list...

Rhaegar spoke in one of Dany's House of Undying visions ("his will be the song of ice and fire"), and Aerys had lines in a Jaime flashback IIRC.
