The Three-Headed Dragon (Possible Spoilers)

I just finished the chapter where

Maester Aemon dies :crying:. After talking of how there needs to be three Targaryens to conquer Westeros. My theory is that the other two could be Jon and possibly Stannis. Jon already has many theories about how he is Lyanna and Rhaegar's son---which also resolves the whole "Promise me Ned" business---making him a Targaryen. Aemon also mentions that Stannis has some dragon blood as well, and unless G.R.R.M reveals a whole new character, he seems the only likely candidate. What do you all think of this?

i think the dragon riders will be jon, danny and tyrion. stannis may have dragon blood but also brown ben plumm (i think stannis will die in the end, so maybe that's another reason), but some people think victarion could be one of the riders since he has euron's dragon-binder horn. but i prefer tyrion to victarion, and he could ride viserion since it's the smallest dragon and he has always been in interested in dragon lore. & grrm said tyrion was his fav. character somewhere so he might allow him to ride a dragon in the end..?

There was no meantioning of riding a dragon either ...

When Aegon I Targaryen conquered Westeros, he had the help of two other Targaryens: Rhaenys and Visenya along with the three dragons---Vhagar, Meraxes, and Balerion the Black Dread. This lead to their symbol of the three-headed dragon (The Targaryens, not the dragons). I never stated that the other two heads had to ride the dragons, only that they have to be of some form of Targaryen blood.

I think the riders will be Dany, Jon and Bran..

I can understand Dany and Jon, but why Bran?

True, you didn't! I reacted to a post by another boarder, where there was mentioning of riding the dragons.

Didn't GRRM say somewhere that you don't need Targaryen blood to ride a dragon?

Can't find the quote in SSM :frown5:

Spoiler for ADWD

After we have seen one dragon ridden I think it is possible though we see all dragons being ridden. I would like to read that!

I don't believe Dany will ever even get to Westeros, and if she does she won't last long. It would just be too perfect for her, and as we know, nothing ever goes how we want it to in ASOIAF.

Interesting, I think Dany and Jon would be my obvious first two picks, however the only thing I can think of for Bran is if he really learns how to utilize being a warg. He could possibly use that to his advantage to be one of the three? I'm just trying to think of how to justify the idea of Bran.

However, in my own opinion, I've yet to decide who the third rider could be. Could be cool if it were Tyrion OR Bran though.

Dany is the obvious first choice. Dany-Drogon

i totally believe Jon is a Targ, so Jon-Rhaegal

Where's the bloody spoiler button, nevermind, about Aegon! I believe he dies eventually so that Tyrion (much to my dismay) turns out to be a Targ. So Tyrion-Vyserion it is (I really hope not)

I came to this conclusion due to GRRM's infatuation towards Tyrion's character.

I don't know if it's too outside the point of this post, but I found it odd that Aemon was even talking that way. He has gone to great lengths not to choose sides in the political conflicts, but now all of a sudden he wants to rush to Dany because of a news from the east and an old prophecy.

I agree.

I posted this somewhere else.

It seems to me House Stark and House Targ will be key. Dany obviosly for her dragonblood, Bran wants to fly, and is a warg, so he has the ability for sure, and if the R+L=J is true, Jon Snow is the union between houses.
