Another suggestion, this time with a terrific surname to play the Wildling Princess:
Gabrielle Wilde

I think Jessica Marais would make a great Val. It'd most likely never happen though, since she's pregnant now. But she's got the beauty and also the fierceness.

She was in Legend of the Seeker with Tabrett Bethell.

She's definitely beautiful, but she's young, even younger than Kit. Though, if they can age up characters, maybe they can age them down. :)

And Gabrielle Wilde has also been suggested as Tyene on the Martells thread, which could work in my view. :)

Yeah, I've suggested her as well in my previous post. She would be def. my second choice after Tabrett. ;)

And you're right, Jessica is pregnant now, but if they're going to split the third book in two seasons, maybe she will be appear in the second part. :dunno: Let's assume they'll cast the Val character next year and start shooting in late Summer 2013, it could work.

No offense, but I don't see any resemblance between Tabrett and "Dany".

Tamsin Egerton is lovely, no doubt and maybe she could play Val, at least she's got experience in playing a medieval character.
But honestly I don't see "the Wildling Princess" in her, but that's just me.

On the other hand, she's been used a lot as Val in fanarts on fandoms, but so are Tabrett and Imogen Poots. ;)

@Amorith, yeah I have the same problem with Tamsin and I said it in the first page, I don't see Val in her, she looks too "soft" for me, I can see a princess but I cannot see a wildling. I know she is used a lot in tumblr for Val (by the way, the ones using Tabrett are almost all mine :blushing: ) but I just don't see her as Val. And I also don't see any resemblance between Emilia and Tabrett, to be honest :dunno:

None taken, but why the eye-rolling? ;) I think their lips and eyes are similar.

Hi Val!
Yeah, same goes with me, but I guess we have to wait and see who they gonna pick. If we are fortunate like the Brienne fans, who suggested
Gwendoline Christie long before the show was on air, maybe D&D will listen to us and we can get Tabrett as Val, we can hope right. ;)

But the most important thing is, that the Val character has to be cast first, fingers crossed. Though Val might be a minor role, it doesn't change the fact - in my view - that she has an important role and maybe an impact in the story. ;)

Otherwise why would GRRM put her in the story in the first place? To have an additional eye-candy for the readers/viewers?
We've got plenty of them, no. To have a potential love interest for Jon? Maybe, but this option didn't last, did it? Though I hope for it to be honest, but there's sth. else, or am I reading to much in this. :dunno:

So you are the one using Tabrett as Val on tumblr, that's cool, love all the arts.

Oh no, it wasn't my intend to give you a eye-rolling for your post, not at all. :blushing:
It's just a smiley I always use on other boards, to express my thinking in the moment, but I guess from now on I have to reconsider it. :)

I suggested this for Dany, but she works for Val too, especially since she's older and probably more age-suitable for Val, while still looking like in her twenties:

Emilie de Ravin

Otherwise known as Claire from LOST.

Ugh NO. She is horrible in "Once upon a time", IMO. She wasn't good in Lost either.

Yeah on second thought, she probably doesn't have the acting chops or the persona to embody Val.

My choice is pretty clear since the very first time I read Val's description. Tabrett Bethell (who played badass Cara Mason on Legend of the seeker) is my Val. She is beautiful, hot and fierce. I cannot picture Val with another face
I only read descriptions of the character and saw an artwork of what she's supposed to look like but based on that I'm sure Tabrett can portray this character truthfully.

Here's a video of her as Cara: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=7__7dkH_RFw
And another one showing her kicking ass: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=LuYVpP82mPs
And someone said she doesn't have a regal look? Here are her scenes from Princess: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=8Vvl5kgQMII

Tabrett is also an award winning actress, she won the Best Actress Award in 2010 at the Manhattan Film Festival (there were more than a 1000 films, so it's quite an achievement) for her performance in Anyone You Want, which was her first starring role.
And this year she's nominated for another Best Actress Award for The Clinic in Fangoria's 2012 Chainsaw Awards.

This is how I always pictured Val: http://chrono.wikia.com/wiki/Ayla ;)

But as far as the suggestions so far I have to agree with Val the Wildling Princess and go with Tabrett Bethell!

My own suggestion right now would be Viva Bianca because I loved her in Spartacus and she looks the part to me I guess (though probably a bit older).

I can't think of anyone else right now!

The BAFTA nominations today reminded me of my random idea of Vicky McClure as Val. beautiful, can play strength And coolness and an amazing actress.

Sarah is too young.

What about aussie Yvonne Strahovski from "Chuck"? She's available now with the end of the show.

Blonde, good looking, kick ass, can act and also older than Kit (29).

Strahovski is a very good choice...she have that "strength" that Val's character require

I really hope this role will be cast, and that they find a suitable actress. :)

third choice? I think Romola Garai is the perfect actress for Val!! (an she's tall too)
