Black Crow
The overthrow of the nightsking fits in nicely with the song about the battle for the dawn that Bran hears at the harvest festival as I think has been suggested before, but the long winter...the same long winter that the last hero was caught up in or a different long winter? Are there long winters and Long Winters?ETA, what about if it wasn't that the nights king had caused a long winter but that the Stark in Winterfell and Joramun feared that is what would happen, he had to go because his behaviour would cause a long winter?I'm still working on one of Professor Crow's lectures on this one, saving it for the new thread due up shortly. Essentially however I'd be wary of equating the battle for the dawn with ending the long night. It doesn't have to be the ending of a literal darkness, but a darkness of the soul in the sense that to those who walk in the light (of their faith), the heathen are walking in darkness.
