Just wanted to address this since OSU is getting quite a bit of flak for this.  Gundy played all 95 players on the roster on Saturday.  All the starters were pulled before the end of the 1st quarter.  So it isn't like he was trying to run up the score.  Hell, if he had, OSU could have easily scored 100+.  And the only reason Savannah State was scheduled was because OSU had an open date they needed to fill late in the season because of conference realignment.
Fair enough, I think SSU play FSU this week, It won't be much better.

Anyone with sense knows that "running up the score" can't be easily avoided when one team so obviously overmatches another.  The players who are sent out there by the superior team still want to play, and play hard.  These are competitive kids, some of whom may never see the field again, and they're not going to lay down because the other team isn't physically or schematically capable of stopping them.
The real problems I have with it, is that these games get set up. I live in Savannah(I am a Georgia Southern fan, not SSU) and I know why these games got set up. Last year Wright Stadium (which also host HS games, I played there once) had a lot of work done last year and they had to play off campus. I do get that OU and FSU will each pay them more money then they will make in a full year.

SSU was a crappy div II team, that never should have moved to 1-A. The last time I remember them having a winning team was when Shannon Sharpe played for them. The only 2 other people that played for them I can name were Tahj Mowry (child actor, younger brother of Tia and Tamera) and Ernest "The Cat" Miller( known more for Wrestling).

NCAA should stop games like this from ever happening.

Sure it can - play calling can make a significant difference.  Run instead of pass.  Not having anyone lay down but it provides the players the opportunity to go 100% and still not necessarily score as quickly.

I'm reading through the play-by-play and seeing that each QB who came in played the full offense for his first drive then pretty much ran the ball after that.  I don't begrudge a reserve QB who may never again see the field wanting to run the actual offense for one drive.

I remember Cal's awesome 1991 team facing an overmatched Univ. of Pacific which ran a run-and-shoot type offense and seldom ran the ball.  The Tigers had a lot of 3 and out with 3 incomplete passes and Cal won 86-24 with 125 or so yards by non-scholarship player Max Fancher.  It happens.  And I can accept the realignment excuse fairly readily for the schedule - the League of Texas' Bitches had some serious problems.

This is definitely true, but I have seen a lot of negative comments directed toward the Cowboys and I think quite a few people have gotten the impression that they were trying to run up the score, which is far from the case.

Corey Bennett is OSU's 5th string running back and rushed 12 times for 91 yards and a TD.  His scoring play was OSU's last drive of the game and he rushed 9 times on a 10 play drive.  There's really only so much you can do.

And just found this out, but Gundy confirmed yesterday that SSU was the 17th school that schedulers called after realignment left us with an open home date.  So it isn't as if we were gunning for the worst team in the FCS just so we could run up the score.

BTW, Dana Holgerson could probably do stand up.  Watched video of his press conference just now, the man has his timing down just perfect.

ETA:  Oklahoma State had nine rushing touchdowns in their game.  Nine.  They only threw three for three touchdowns (and those were the backups).  They were calling run plays.
