Young winning that Super Bowl with the rent-a-defense didn't do anything to dispel my conviction that Montana was far better under pressure.
Young had to deal with a lot more of the Triplets and goddamned Brett Favre with his resurgent Packers than Montana did. I think Young was better than his Superbowl year for several years afterwords. But, Cowboys. Packers. Garrison Hearst breaking his leg off on the opening drive...

Is this what Pats fans chant to themselves when going to bed at night?

No need to chant anything, because it's completely true.  I hate the Patriots and Belichick/Brady as much as the next non-New England fan (and my hate goes all the way back to their first SB win), but even I can admit that both Belichick and Brady are already among the top 5 coaches/QBs of all time simply due to the 4 AFC Championships and 3 Super Bowl rings.

Are there really people out there who think Spygate tarnishes Belichick's legacy? Wow. Come on. Haters gonna hate when they're not the ones on top. Spygate is an interesting footnote and little more. They got caught and they paid a price. Presumably they don't do it any more, and if they are, smart teams are employing counter-intelligence and such.

well, everyone knows that all of belichick's and his patriot's wins are directly connected to years and years of espionage, subterfuge, assassination, terrorism and jackassery. none of them have a single thing to do with him being a brilliant football mind and having assembled a very very good team.

Not arguing that. Montana > Young every time in the overall, but going with Young at that point was the right call. Belicheck would've pulled that trigger.
True enough.  And I suspect Belichick will have to do it to Brady at some point.

Good coach?  Of course.  But watching Pats find try to ratioanlize cheating just gets exhasuting after a while.  Hes a good coach, and a cheater.  Since he got caught, I will at least concede that hes better at coaching than he is at cheating.

CBS just went to a shot of Vince Wilfork, and he is so fat that it appears that he ate a Baltimore running back. The Ravens should be ok as long as it isn't Ray Rice.

How does this guy move quick enough to play football? It has to be more of Belichek's bio engineering a la Gronkowski.

Not like that, I don't think. Without a USFL to fuck things up I can't imagine anything like Montana/Young ever happening again. At least not so blatantly.

Wilfork was the prototype.

They showed Bill Belicheck during the National Anthem, and his face said: "That dude looks like a lady..."

Favre/Rodgers?

Also, my pizza has not arrived yet. Unacceptable.

Negative Ghostrider.

Rodgers was not already proven to be a top ten starter with pro-football under his belt.

Though that would be the closest comparison. Let's just say for the sake of argument they are comparable. When the hell will we see that again?

Barring an injury to Brady in the next two or three years, Mallett is probably destined to be trade bait.

If I was John Harbaugh, Jimmy Smith just got cut from the team.

Rodgers/Flynn?  Heheh, I doubt it.

I was too young at the time, but was Young really that highly regarded because of his on-the-field pro football experience? His USFL/TB numbers are pretty mediocre at best.

Anyway, Phil Simms is already getting on my nerves early in the game. Bad sign.

Pollard was about to get cut, but the tackle on Hernandez just gets him benched.
