So you're telling me you're more scared of Cersei than Gregor? haha

Gregor isn't scary? dafuq. If I was on the same continent with Gregor I'm shit myself and probably place a mirror infront of one of my eyes to make sure he wasn't behind me

I was saying that they aren't on the level of scariness as Others, who Queen Cersei I thought could use as an example of them. Gregor may be an insane, brutal monster of a man, but he's still a man. He's slow and cruel, easily predictable and you know that he is only human. The Others are beyond him, I bet they could kill him as easy as Ser Waymar Royce.

I don't hate Cersei because she's a woman.  I hate her because she's an evil schemer and above all PETTY.  Tywin Lannister has good lines and he respects competence.  He's willing to work for the greater (Lannister) good and is evil.  But more than that, he gets a backstory that shows through Joanna and the 20 years of propersity under his time as Hand of the King, we know he has depth.  Cersei is and always has been just mean.  The feminist critique of the series is really interesting, but some of them just throw their hands up at what to do with Cersei's unambiguous penis envy.

Gregor's dead, that's the last of him. (Not including Robert Strong.) The Others are an entire race, they have a weakness to Dragonglass and perhaps Valyrian steel, but Gregor's weakness was anything. Not to mention the Others are far more of a mystery. If Gregor wandered out with his band of plunderers beyond the wall, they wouldn't last a day. Some would be taken by the cold, some, the wights, then they would fight against their own dead, and unknown creatures. Giant frost spiders like blood hounds on a trail, silent butchery. Mance Rayder fled from them, and in all honesty, I think he would win in a fight against Gregor.

No!!!!!! That's only the hottest girl sex slaves. For the boy sex slaves, he has them killed instantly because they are "unnatural creatures." And he allows many of the other female sex slaves to live, freeing them into a life of sexual slavery to yet another man.

So you see! Vicky's not all that bad.

For all we know, the Others *are* female - it's not as if any of the unlucky sods who encountered them so far got the chance to examine their private bits. No need to make assumptions just because they wear armour rather than dresses, is there? :)

The Others haven't done anything wrong. It's all just a horrible misunderstanding. All they wanted was a hug, and suddenly everybody is blowing horns and shooting them with fire. Not cool, Night's Watch, not cool :(

Alternatively: Actually appear in the story and do something. Anything at all. Seriously, it's been five books and we're still waiting to see what y'all are up to.

Just wait until the next book. Cersei is going to get up to some attrocities that put Gregor, Vargo et. al. to shame. She's going to start by killing and torturing Lancel and his innocent brothers, sisters, and mothers, and I seriously do not even want to imagine where she's going to go from there.

Soon no one will be able to "outrank" Cersei on the "evil bitch scale" of your devising.

Some people kind of pitied her last book, which means she has to arise harder, stronger and more senselessly evil in the next scenes she's in.
I am almost certain she will overstep her bounds in the next book and get herslf killed. She has managed to survive far to many times jut by the skin of her teeth. Karma is a comin.
With a bigass stick.

She often compares Tommen (unfavorably) to Joffrey.

This is the greatest crime she's committed cause Tommen is awesome. And killing an infant was pretty bad too I guess.

Just want to point out that I so agree with those sayings that Cersei is hated for wrong reasons often; she has all the rights to have as much lovers as she wants, but she must be hated for other reasons!

Look, Arianne, Asha, the Sand Snakes have had quite some lovers too, and they are not equally hated ! Women have, as do men, the rights to enjoy their sexual life !

I usually don't get excited about badassery for its own sake, but now that you've conjured this image, I HAVE TO SEE THISSSSSSS!!!! Robert Strong vs. The Others!

It's different. Cersei does horrible things to others for the sake of her children, she's fully aware of this, and she doesn't care. Victarion, from what we see in his point of view, doesn't understand that what he's doing isn't good, he really believes that being a salt wife is somehow much better than being a bedslave, and being a thrall is better than being a slave. That alone doesn't make him good, of course, but it makes him less malicious... it also makes his chapters darkly humorous.

Has anyone else noticed that, considering they are (presumably) the chief antagonists of the series, the others get a surprisingly small amount of hatred on these boards? Seriously, despite the countless hate threads for characters like Joffrey, Cersei, Ramsay Bolton, and Walder Frey, these poor, neglected entities are all too often ignored and passed over. Strange, considering they are supposedly the number one threat to Westeros security. Is it actually a good thing, that the Others are kept in the background, whereas readers are encouraged to hate characters like Cersei Lannister on a deep, visceral level?

We dont hate the Others because we dont know anything about them, they are just some vague threat in the North, for all we know they are the good guys trying to save the world. other than that there is obvious bias here, I can say that care little about LF or Tywin personality, simply because I dont know their side of the story, while I tend to judge charcters with POV on a much more personal level. For example if I never knew Jaime side he would be still asshole number XXXXX on the list, While Cersei to me is a person, but the idea that we are encouraged to hate her, is well...  lets just say that some fangirls really want to like her.

The Others haven been in a few chapters, they might be the real villains of the serie but until we don't see them in action (and by that I mean trying to go south) we can't know how evil they are.
It's normal people hate more Cersei or Joeffry than The Others because they have had a bigger role in the books.

And I hate Cersei, but not because she is ambitious or because she uses sex as a way of gainig favors, I hate her because she is cruel, narcissistic, mean and paranoid, and because she wants power but she doesn't really know how to use it.
