"Val stood on the platform as still as if she had been carved of salt."

This is in DWD when the Horn of Joramun, the wildlings' last hope is being burned before Val's eyes.

Maybe a biblical reference to Edith (Lot's wife) who looks back at Sodom and Gomorrah burning against the angel's command? As punishment she is turned into a pillar of salt. Or am I just tripping?

I think it's pretty valid, I'm kind of surprised that I missed it. I wonder if she knew that it's a fake... or is it?
