Stark: Arya. ("Nobody" "You lie.") Yep, Arya.
Targareyn: Aemon. This is a no-brainer, as are the rest of that clan.
Tully: Blackfish. Hoster's minnows don't measure up and should be thrown back.
Tyrell: Queen of Thorns, but Margaery isn't bad the way she thwarts Cersei. Honorable mention to Loras.
Martell: Red Viper. Fathered the Sand Snakes, which is enough for me, but also did in Gregor.
Bolton: there's a good one?
Lannister: I liked Gemma, who despised the Freys though she lived among them. Kevan, too.
Freys: Nobody named Walder.
Mormont: all the women, especially the 10 year old who defied Stannis ("There is one king in the North and his name is Stark!")
Baratheon: none of that name. Maybe one of Robert's bastards.

STARK: Sansa
I know she isn't well-loved by a lot of people, but she has a quiet kind of strength that has been growing and I can't wait for her to evolve fully into a player from the pawn she used to be.

BARATHEON: Renly
I will never think of peaces the same way again, no joke!

LANNISTER: Cersei
I think if she were male, most of her problems would be gone. I think I just sympathize with her because I often feel that way too. And mother's love is a FIERCE thing, and very often irrational.

TARGARYEN:
Rhaegar: I honestly don't think he raped Lyanna but that she gave her consent. And without him we wouldn't have one hell of a story, would we?

FREY:
Big and Little Walder. They just crack me up and I cannot take them seriously.

TYRELL:
Margaery. That girl will pull herself through all this mess somehow, mark my words. She's too clever not to and will probably live to be as old as the Queen of Thorns.

BASTARD:
Jon Snow. I cannot say enough to describe this. And he's the first character I liked, and you never part with your firsts.

I seem to go with the characters less loved I suppose... :P

Meh, I guess I'll bite.

STARK
Sansa.  She's had one of the most significant growth arcs in the series.  She bends but she doesn't break.  She's a survivor who never gave up and never gave in.  In AGOT she was, as Pycelle noted, a sweet thing but in ten years who knows what treasons she'll hatch?

LANNISTER
Cersei.  Cersei is the only character thus far to express actual anger over her position as a woman.  She's got that vicious Lannister streak in all its glory.  She doesn't stay down, no matter what.  Mean and conniving, a snake in Robert Baratheon's bosom.  I absolutely love her and I am looking forward to seeing her take revenge on the Faith.

GREYJOY
I am torn between Theon and Asha.  I don't like Theon much as a person (frat boy personified) but he was a really entertaining character in ACOK.  He also feels like the more real of the two.  On the other hand, Asha is pretty entertaining throughout her story, her chapters are much more pleasurable reading at later points in the series.  But she feels more like an escapist character to read.

BARATHEON
Joffrey and Stannis.  I actually miss Jofrey to some extent now that he died.  As deaths go, he got a satisfying one and that's all you can ask for in enjoying a villain.  But he had such hubris and gave such entertaining speechs.  "My father won all the battles while you were hiding under Casterly Rock."  "Now, there are three."  "They have the weak hearts of women."  As for Stannis, I didn't really like him until ADWD.  But, as someone said, he's like a cockroach -- he just keeps on going against all the odds.  Plus, he also gives entertaining speeches.

TYRELL
Margaery.  Cersei's twin under a sweeter shell.  Mean, conniving, murderous, and just good enough to come out smelling like roses.  I want to see her fall and see her fall hard.

ARRYN
Sweetrobin!  My precious Sweetrobin, despised by fandom, disliked by his crush, with schemers plotting to murder him.  I hope he pulls through... :frown5:

TARGARYEN
Show or books?  For the books, Daenerys.  A fairly interesting conquerer who just may end up the next Tywin Lannister.  For the show, Viserys, because Harry Lloyd's facial expressions are timeless.

TULLY
Either Edmure or Catelyn.  I have a soft spot for Edmure, who I originally thought was boring.  He's sweet and goodhearted, genuinely cares about the smallfolk, and is treated so badly by everyone around him.  Catelyn's storyline was genius, the boy king observed through the eyes of his mother.  She's also the character I identify with the most.

I "awwed" when Myranda asked Sansa if she was saving herself for Lord Robert or some ardent squire and Robert said that she was his friend and Terrance and Gyles couldn't have her. Spoiling notwithstanding, he can be such a sweet kid.

Stark: Ned, Jon
Tully: The Blackfish
Greyjoy: Victarion, Asha
Lannister: Tywin(if you analize his story you understand that he was the way he was because of his father...who was weak and almost destroyed his house), Tyrion, Jaime.
Martell: The Red Viper
Baratheon: No one
Tyrell: No one
Arryn: Jon
Targaryan: lots..starting with Aegon the Conqueror ending with Egg and Rhaegar

STARK - Arya, 'cause she's Arya. No question.

LANNISTER - Tyrion. Jaime's a very close second, though, after the weirdness that is Tyrion's character development after he kills Tywin.

BARATHEON - Renly, mostly by default.

GREYJOY - before I would've said Asha, but I really liked Theon in aDwD; here's hoping that he doesn't go back to being an overly-entitled, self-centered, immature asshole - which I honestly can't see happening.

TULLY - Bryden, even though we've not seen much of him. He seems like an interesting fellow.

MARTELL - Doran/Oberyn; I would've liked Oberyn if he'd lived longer, but I think Doran's more interesting in the long run - I have loads of respect for a character who will sit back and let his enemies kill each other for him, and I get the feeling that when he actually gets involved in something, the shit will hit the fan before anybody even knew what hit them.

Tyrell - Loras

Arrogant, overconfident, skilled. What's not to like? Plus, an online ASoIaF character test told me I was Loras, so there's that.

Just took it. I'm Dolorous Edd. :cool4:

OK, I'll play...

Stark: Arya. I don't get all the Sansa adoration on this forum.

Lannister: Used to be Tyrion, by a mile, but I've gone off him a bit. Definitely Jaime now.

Targaryen: Master Aemon. I've always had a thing for wise, old men, and I always will. Honourable mentions to Daenerys and Jon (yep), neither of whom I hate nearly as much as many people on the forum seem to do.

Baratheon: Renly, but it's a close thing. As in, I don't really care for any of them.

Tully: Catelyn, with an honourable mention for her uncle.

Martell: Doran. Not as colourful as Oberyn, but, as Ziggelly said, probably more interesting in the long run.

Tyrell: The Queen of Thorns, although she's technically a Redwyne. Margaery is on her way to becoming a pretty cool character, too.

Greyjoy: Asha, although I think the recent Theon chapters are fascinating.

I'll just do the major houses...

Stark
Sansa. I love all the Stark kids, and they're all survivors in their own right, but I particularly appreciate Sansa's armor of courtesy. Her journey has been the most compelling for me, and I am genuinely excited to see what she does next.

Targaryen
Aegon VI, if he's actually a Targaryen. When he's introduced all I could think of was Huck Finn and boy do I love that book. Cyvasse board throwing fits aside, I like the kid.

Lannister
Tommen. I mean, he named his kittens Ser Pounce and Lady Whiskers, what's not to love? (Runner Up: Gerion Lannister, we've never met the guy, but he sounds AWESOME.)

Arryn
Eh... Um... Lysa? Can I just say Littlefinger here?

Tully
Edmure. I feel bad for the guy. He's a good man who gets blamed for everything, and I personally think the Blackfish is an ass.

Tyrell
Queen of Thorns. No question. But runner up goes to Margaery for finally telling Cersei off.

Martell
Tyene Sand. A girl who looks like a septa but is a deadly poison expert? I'm on board.

Greyjoy
Asha Greyjoy. I just love her and hopes she ends up ruling over the Iron Islands in the end. Close runner up to Victarion though for being so unintentionally hilarious.

Sansa was a sweet thing in A Game of Thrones? Funny, I thought she was a silly, stupid and occasionally downright nasty spoilt brat. She's grown on me a lot over the last few books, but in A Game of Thrones I despised her almost as much as I did Joffrey, and that's saying something.

(I know, you were quoting Pycelle. But still. Yikes.)

Stark - Robb, made mistakes but who didn't at 15?

Tully - Blackfish, loved how effective he was as Robb's eyes and ear's, and his resistance to submitting his enemies in aDwD is awesome.

Martell - Oberyn, his fight with the Mountain was epic.. till the end.

Greyjoy - Asha, love me some female warriors.

Baratheon - Stannis, BAMF

Tyrell - Olenna, as soon as Joff died I loved this woman

Lannister - Tyrion, use to be one of my favorites, aDwD was brutal for Tyrion.

Targaryen - Aemon, always loved the fact he turned down the throne, he's just too badass for the Throne I suppose.

Umber - Obviously the GreatJon, love that crazy bastard.

Mormont - Dacey, her death was very rough!

Manderly - Wylla, her outburst in aDwD was epic.

House Direwolf - Shaggydog, a wolf that is not to be messed with.

Bastards - Jon Snow, love his character, love his evolution in regards with the wildlings.

Wildlings - Tormund, the GreatJon of the wildlings!

Stark: Arya - Valar Morghulis.
Lannister: Tyrion - a curmudgeonly drunk - how could I not love him?
Clegane: Sandor - well by default, but he's a great character also
Targaryen: Baelor Breakspear/ Dany - Fire and Blood
Baratheon: Renly - I'll always love him for laughing at Joff over the whole Arya Trident incident.
Tyrell: Margaery - I love her in Feast

Major Houses
Stark: Arya (had me as soon as Joffrey's sword went into the river
Baratheon: Stannis
Lannister: Jaime, just the complexities.
Targ: Egg, but in the current timeline Master Aemon
Tully: Blackfish
Martell: Oberyn, the Red Frickin'  Viper
Tyrell: Butterbumbs. I can't stand any of the others. (Although the Queen of Thorns is intriguing)
Greyjoy: Asha
Arryn: Not much to like here at all. If I can't name Lord Baelish's bastard Alayne, then I hope that Sweetrobin dies so we can be introduced to another distant branch of this sickening house.

Lesser Houses:
Frey: Big Walder
Manderly: Sir too fat to sit a horse, Frey-pie bakin, 4 chinned, eel eating,Wyman
Bolton:Roose
Reed: Meera
Crakehall: Strongboar
Mormont: Maege
Stokeworth: (by marriage): Sir Bronn of the Blackwater, and we'd better see more of him!

Bastards
Snow: Jon
Hill: Tommen
Storm: Gendry
Sand: Sarella/Alleras

No real need to mention Tarth, Tarly, and some others with one obvious main charachter.
I refuse to even acknowledge anything in Essos. It pained me to even write the previous sentence.

Starks: Jon, with Arya right behind him. I've read thousands of books in my life but never felt love for a character until I found those two kids.

Lannister: Jaime, which surprises me. He's such a work in progress and I love how Brienne has humanized him. I used to love Tyrion so much! My feelings for him waned when he went to Essos, the place I like least in the story.

Baratheon: Stannis, Robert almost as much. All 3 Baratheon boys have such strong personalities. They are so un-boring.

Tully: Blackfish, I guess.

Martell: Doran. I love quiet strength. He's such an anomaly in that family. Although, Elia sounds similar in temperment to him.

Greyjoy: Theon. I hated him on my first read through. On my second reading, I came to care for him deeply. I hope he finds happiness and a home, if he's allowed to live.

Targaryen: Aemon. What a brilliant, honorable, gentle and kind man he was.

Mormont: Old Bear. Long Claw. Sad bastard boy. Epic man.

Reed: Meera, the little cutey pie that wear green leggings and is fearless.

Manderly: Wylla with the green hair and good heart

Umber: Crowsfood. I admire the Greatjon too but Mors is more interesting to me.

Wildling: Tormund

Septon/ Holy Man: I like the man on the Quiet Isle so much. Was his name Meribald?

Tarly: Sam
