It is a small snippet, I know. But bigger things might come of it.

Arya is clearly becoming very beautiful.

To say it with one quote out of the book:

"... best you have a new face as well.” He cupped her chin, turned her head this way and that, nodded. “A pretty one this time, I think. As pretty as your own."  The kindly man is talking here.

And there, of course, are all those quotes about her long legs, slender frame and comparisions to Lyanna, who was very beautiful herself.

Do you think in all what is circular in this story we might get Aegon trying to get her? Or could she use her beauty as some sort of a weapon? Or is just that simple formula where an ugly duckling grows up to be a swan and everyone is happy about it?

If Arya stays with the Faceless men I can see her using her looks to lure some of her marks into a kind of honey trap as a way to accomplish her mission.

The Lyanna comparisons are plentiful, which is slightly worrying for Arya's long term well being.

And yes,she could use this beauty as a weapon, when she becomes the uber-assassin.

I have a feeling that Arya's going to grow up to be stunning. Can't wait to see Gendry and Aegon get in a fistfight over her.

I thought it was interesting why some people call her horseface while others say she looks like Lyanna.  She probably isn't as ugly as her sister and Jeyne Poole use to say.  Children are mean, ya know?

What question I can't shake is what part Arya will play?  She is isolated from just about everyone and training to be some mysterious assassin. Great? I wonder who she will be sent to kill eventually i.e. one of our other POV characters perhaps one she knows?

Well now... this all sounds very familiar...a man with Baratheon blood and another of Targaryen blood fighting over a girl of Stark blood, hmm
Honestly, though, I hope not. No Rhagear/Lyanna/Robert repeat please. :bang: Arya is destined for more than that. Besides if Arya wanted to be with anyone, Arya will pick Gendry, no contest. :smug: Aegon is a little brat. See: His little temper tantrum when he lost to Tyrion playing cyvasse.

I can see an older Arya using her looks to lure targets if she does become a faceless man because you know in a place like this, women who are "beautiful" have a much easier time getting what they want. As opposed to someone like Brienne, who is immediately snubbed.

I don't think Arya will use her beauty for hits as a Faceless Man because she will use a different face/appearance. Infact her beauty could be a problem in this aspect because if she used her own beauty it would make her more memorable and they may not want that. It also sounds like Cersei to use her beauty and that is not Arya's style or the type of person she is, atleast I hope she will not turn out that way. Arya is going to be quite stunning and I'm curious how that will come into play.

I have suggested that Arya could be the younger more beautiful queen because she looks like Lyanna. Cersei does not consider others more beautiful than her and really does not see them as rivals. Arya, looking similar to Lyanna, is the one person Cersei would view as more beautiful and a rival. Lyanna took the love from the two men Cersei wanted, Rhaegar and King Bob, so Arya would be a threat in that aspect. I think it could be important as to who Cersei views could be this person, it should matter to Cersei and affect Cersei. We already know she does not think Marg is more beautiful and she does not view Sansa as a rival. So who knows, maybe this is one of several crackpots I have.

Oh plzz god noo! We"ve got enough women using their beauty for accomplishing their respective goals.Id rather see a girl with brains trying to  pull off stuff u know? Like that sarella chick or even brienne.
If arya turns into another Arianne it will be incredibly lame and a boring cliched read.

Realistically Dany is the most obvious choice for a target. The FM were created in Valyria and don't like fire sorcery.I don't think they would have a problem with this job,if someone or some organization wants it badly enough.

Dany's father cooked Arya's grandfather alive in his armour and killed her uncle.

And Arya does not know Dany. She might "replace" Missandie to get close enough.

I hope she doesn't use her beauty as a weapon - that sort of thing has been done before. Many times. It gets cliched.

I like how Arya wants focus on her skills and brains to achieve her goals. It's a nice change, a strong female that can go beyond just using feminine wiles to get what she wants. Yes, the world like ASOIAF is quite look-oriented and women have limited options otherwise (And you can't blame them) but it would be great if Arya completely changed that dynamic by using different ways to achieve personal empowerment and freedom. It would make for a more interesting/original read.

It can be done - look a Alleras/Sarella. She is using a completely unmainstream route, using her intelligence to study and learn versus using her attractiveness. And I'm really drawn to characters like that. Brienne too, as she is untypical and had to use skill to become a knight.

And besides, at the moment, Arya doesn't care about her looks, let alone being pretty. And she found Sansa's early-self of pretty, ladylike behaviour as a form of womanly satus really annoying.

But yeah, she does seem like she is going to be quite lovely in her adulthood - and a natural beauty, at that.

I sure hope that Arya won't become one of those women who manipulate other people using their attractiveness. Rather I would like to see Arya use her wits, cunning and skills (traits which have kept her alive till now).

Also, if she stays with the FM, she will be required to use their live masks while on a mission. So why will she need to use her own beauty to lure someone into a trap?

Also, she's barely 11 and she still doesn't consider herself good looking. If she were to use her beauty as a weapon, then she would need to believe that she is indeed beautiful.

But like I said, I don't want Arya to become like that and I sincerely hope GRRM doesn't either. This goes against everything that Arya is.

I agree that Arya is growing up to be a real beauty. I noticed that during her last chapters noone mistook her for a boy anymore, despite her still short hair (correct me if I'm wrong, please), and she says herself that she has grown quite a bit in the last time.
But in my opinion it is out of character for Arya to utilize her own beauty to deceive people. She doesn't consider herself pretty, and she relies more on her waterdancing skills and her wits to get things done. It is a different thing if she wears someone's face, she can distance herself from that.

It's unlikely, but I hope Arya doesn't become a great beauty. It's boring and implausible that every major female character in this series is stunning (except Brienne). Sansa, Dany, Cersei, Catelyn, Arianne, Margaery, Melisandre... Give us some average looking or merely pretty women, GRRM!

So this will only be a welcome trait to a beloved character and have no impact on the story?

I think it might influence the story in that sense that she will have to fend off more suitors^^
And it might put more emphasis on the Arya/ Gendry - Lyanna/Robert parallel. We'll see where that goes...

If she is to become the ultimate assassin, she will make use of every weapon in her arsenal.

In the assassination of the Shipping Insurer she watched and made note of his weakness-the love of money in itself, and used that in her plan.

If she senses that a target has a weakness for beauty she will use that fact.It might not necessarily be her own face that she uses.

But I still worry about Arya and maybe her beauty will be her own weakness.

I think she will grow up to become a beautiful woman but she won't care about it or use it to take advantage of it. I also think that Arya and her training as a FM will play a major part in Jon's future, he might be the reason for Arya to return to Westeros and Jon might be the reason for her to become Arya again.

I see Arya becoming beautiful but it just being a superficial boon. I don't think it will go to her head and the self reliance and assuredness she has learned will quell any prospect of vanity. Arya is blossoming into not only a beautiful woman, but an independent and strong one at that.

Read: She's becoming the total package. I'm sure the comparions has be drawn before but, Nymeria anyone?
