DO NOT READ THIS if you haven't finished ASoS!

Okay, so I just finished ASoS and I think it was the most intense reading experience I've ever had in my whole life. WOWZA.
I tend to get very emotionally attached to characters and George RR Martin has created practically a whole continent of people I care about and keeps killing them off, hurting them real badly or making them unhappy. So at times, while reading ASoS I was a very, very weird person.

Luckily, I live in the middle of the forest and the people who judge my sanity are usually my dogs, my horses and my daughter who lives in her own little imaginary world and wouldn't mind. But this book... this book even shocked my dogs.

So here's a list of crazy things I did while reading ASoS or listening to the audio book on my head phones:

Situation 1: Dog sledding through the snow with headphones.
Kept falsely calling my grey siberian husky "Lady" - who has meanwhile gotten used to that name.
Taking the wrong turn because I focused on a scene.
When the "monsters" were walking up to Bran and Hodor in the castle, I kept yelling "SAM! SAM! It's got to be SAM! SAMWELL TARLY, it's just SAM! SAM! It's SAAAAM! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEES I knew it!"

When the Red Wedding was approaching I was already spoiled that Robb and Cat and Grey Wind were going to die. So I cried through the whole freakin' wedding and when the hacking and slashing finally began, I had to stop the sled, sit down in the middle of the forest and cry like a baby while my dogs were staring at me in shock and trying to lick my frozen face.
I had to stop the audiobook, rewind and read it again at home - while cutting onions, so noone would know why I'm crying.

Situation 2: In public.
In the supermarket - getting used to looking at the display for the sum to pay, because I wouldn't stop the recording, not even for the 5 minutes of payment.
Bumping into my neighbor, fighting the urge to cry over a character in ASoS, hoping he won't notice.
Laughing out loud about one of Tyrion's jests.
Feeling really embarrassed when my daughter walks in on me while I was just listening to a very very juicy Shae/Tyrion scene an turning the audio book off as if she'd caught me watching porn...

Situation 3: Farm work.
Tending to my horses, while muttering "I'm the master of horse!"
Looking at my horses, wondering if they're palfreys or destriers.
Shoveling horse shit while slamming the shovel in the muck shouting "POLLIVER! THE TICKLER! THE HOUND! JOFFREY! QUEEN CERSEI!"
Carrying a dead chicken to its grave, burying it mumbling "Valar morghulis."

Okay, now you know I'm psychotic. I showed you mine. Now show me yours.

Just stumbled across this.
D'AAAAAWWW you made it!  *sigh, they grow up so fast* :D

SAdly no strange things happened to me when reading the books(no audiobooks for me). I can only read at home, with non-vocal music playing quietly along, preferably the GOT- soundtrack. But if I would listen to the audiobooks it would be on thetrain or while I'm riding, so I'd either alienate the whole train by muttering curses in a forein language or scare my horse when shouting something and fall off. :P

When the Red Wedding happened, I closed my book and turned on my XBOX 360, and put Oblivion in. I then made an Arya Stark character and attacked every person in the game that resembled a Frey or Lannister. My hands were shaking a little bit too. I was so upset that I didn't read any more for a couple of weeks.

Imagining that moment really cracks me up

Sadly, I didn't do anything too crazy in response to the books.  I lost my temper, threw my book and started cursing when Arya took an "ax to the back of the head," but luckily no one else was home to hear me.

Oh, and when Joff died I literally started jumping up and down for joy, I felt like a little kid again :D

This made me laugh! I don't listen to the books but I have the soundtrack on my phone and I was listening to the finale track when I was searching for a particular road. It got to the climactic bit just as I reached the top of this hill and saw the road I was looking for. I. Am. Daenarys!

Yesterday I told my brother I'd geld him if he carried on being a little shit. He reacted quite like Joffrey did x)

Nice Thread. I made an Arya Stark in Dragon Age 2, after reading teh second book
Since I'm reading mostly at home, there is nothing to be embarassed (my bunnies are used to me laughing or crying while reading or wtaching a movie or  a series).
But sometimes I read during breaks and I share my office with some colleagues. There was that scene in GoT, when Tyrion introduced his new mates ('Shagga, son of Dolf, Timett son of Timett...') to his father - I laughed so hard (especially when Tywin ... or was it Kevan?... frowned about Shaggas three axes) - my colleagues looked at me, like they thought, I'm mad.

- During the red wedding scene, I cought myself urging Cat loudly to run away - it was one of the chapters, I found most shocking so far and I was stunned after reading it.
- when Joffrey died, I cheered, very loud.
- when Tywin died, I cursed - also very loud (it means no more wonderful Charles Dance after season 3)

There are a lot of similar events, but aside from my neighbours, noone noticed so far

But I tend to call or mail friends, who read the books, after every book or exciting chapter, to tell them of my feelings about it. And after discussing it  for a while, I go back to reading.

Was so upset about the Red Wedding and then Oberyn I considered not even finishing the book. I am giving myself a break and reading some other things until starting the fourth one.

The weirdest thing I did was: while walking to my friend's house, picked up a stick I pretended was Needle and attacked plants along the way, shouting "Is there gold in the village? Treasure? Gems?! How many men does Lord Beric have!" because I liked the scene where Arya killed the Tickler.

After TRW I just calmly closed the book, put it aside and sat on my bed and stared at the wall for about five minutes. It's kind of a blur really :P

good thread
I'm ashamed of how i reacted during the RW. I didn't feel pain for Cat, I didn't feel bad for Robb, and i didn't even think about the countless of people trapped beneath the Towers. I only thought of Arya. Looking back im such a prick but... And then when "the axe took her in the back of the head" I just screamed "FUCK!!" looked up and i came to the realisation that im in the middle of the Subway Train. Kinda embarrassing...
Also i was reading the Jon chapter at work (i pirated it so i can read it on microsoft word lol) and got to the part where he runs away from the Wildlings i had a huge smile on my face and my boss was like "what the fucks so funny" i was like "nothing" and kept on reading, Summer is so cool!

I may have driven my friend (who introduced me to this series) a bit mental by texting him all my reactions... at 3am ('cause that's when read the most) Apparently my reaction to something a few chapters before the Red Wedding was sounding far too much like a possible reaction to after the damn thing (amazing powers of prediction based on wrong clues, I'm sooo good at that)

when reading of Joffrey's wedding, kinda had a feeling some shit was about to go down [GRRM and weddings, man...], 'cept suddenly an influx of customers happened. It would take something like 10 minutes (and 4 tries) to read a single line, and I started to mumble something like "The merciful Mother doesn't want this wedding to explode... she grants them life for another 5minutes"
The last customer was greeted with "The Others take this, dammit!!" ... lucky for me this was a regular and overall cool guy so we just laughed it off as nerdrage at the radio....

Then kept yelling at the book  when Arya leaves The Hound. Seriously, I'm sittin here at work going "dammit girl, you owed him that mercy!!!" ... good thing nobody was around that time

Totally forgot about the Arya-axe-to-the-head-scene, I screamed FUCK aswell. Noticing it was about 2 or 3 a.m. and my mom was sleeping. Luckily I didn't wake her up.

Haha, we should make a championship. It drives my husband crazy that I always seem to know what's going to happen, even if it's extremely unlikely and all of my clues and hints are either completely wrong or never happened.

I haven't finished reading the book.. and I am actually having a hard time with it.  When reading aCoK, I flew thru it.  I read the book in 3 days.   This one is a struggle and I believe it is because I am really annoyed by Catelyn actions in the beginning.  I have a really hard time with her releasing Jamie.  I am not sure I really believe it.  Also, I don't know why she thinks it would work considering that Tryion is no longer the Hand.   Really, poor Rob doesn't have a chance with family like this.  Although, I haven't read yet what happens to him, I know it isn't good because no book yet has had a chapter with his POV.. so that can't be good.  And unfortunately, I read the genalogy at the back to figure out what happened to Theon..

Anyway.. the other night I had a 'Bran' dream.  I dreamt of a crow trying to peck away at my third eye...weird.

I read the part of the red wedding during an excruciatingly hot summer night. i was at the balcony, pouring water on the floor in order to cool the heat down. while reading it i was screaming: HELL NO, NO WAY etc until the end of the chapter. A neighboor yelled at me to shut it and I, furiously, yelled back: no, YOU SHUT IT, Robb's dead!
after that I came to my senses and went inside...
