funny, i am the opposite. I used to hate tyrion throughout books 1 and 2, but after reading Asos I kind of like him!

Either that, or I was merely commenting that it was surprising that Cersei had not yet been named yet in a hate thread for 7 posts, considering how widely (and virulently) she is hated.

I was not questioning the validity of this hatred, merely commenting on its widespread nature. (And uncommon depth; perhaps more so than for any other character, even Joffrey.)

If the hatred for any character is, in my eyes, somewhat baffling, it is that for Catelyn Tully. Whilst the baby murdering Bronn is universally beloved as a "badass", Cat is widely despised. However, far be it from me to question people's hatred for certain characters. Its a fiction novel; people can hate whomever they chose for whatever reasons they chose to do so. The last thing anybody needs on a hate thread is some killjoy shouting, "OMG you can't hate her she's soooo nice!"

But is a conundrum how Stoneheart is portrayed as monstrous for basically possesing the same code of morality that makes the Red Viper "a total Badass." But this is an issue with the text itself rather than readers.

I am beginning to think that there are very few who choose to root for "evil/bad guy" characters although they weave such intricate webs ie; Varys/Littlefinger (although they dont even belong in the same category) doing what they do without spilling blood. + OR - 1 bolt and however long of freefall time.

Or The goat singlehandedly (through a big dotraki) plotting the king"slayers" fall from grace

LOL, Euron!
In my eyes, the man's such a ridiculous, pantomime villain (complete with a bloody pirate eyepatch!) that I can't even bring myself to hate him, or feel much at all for the guy save mild amusement. Meanwhile, Victarian's simplistic, simpleminded misogyny and overall worldview is fare more believable... and gross.

Though he is presented as a "badass" in ADWD, I personally can't stand the creep. Ugh.

P.S.-- does anybody else recall Euron's mockery of Victarian "It looks like Victarian is big everywhere except for where it counts!" In the next chapter, Euron is walking around half naked, and Vic gets a look at the full monty. Vic then proceeds to get all upset and disconcerted (for reasons that are not elaborated on, but perhaps do not need to be), and order Euron to cover up his goods. Vic thinks something like (of Euron) "his nakedness was obscene, mocking..." Mocking? Methinks Euron might be right-- poor Vic is a little bit small where it counts, and apparently has a bit of a case of penis envy. (Of the locker room, rather than the Freudian, variety.)

Clarification, please. You mean about one another or about the characters we dislike?
Edit: Someone used the W word to describe Cersei? That  word is used all over the forum and everywhere in the books. This being an "I hate ..... " topic any descriptors are likely to be derogatory. Bronn is called a babykiller, not a compliment among the people I hang with.

If you'll notice, Cercei isn't on my list, though I'll be the first to say she's done some terrible things. I just love how deluded she is, (drinking and getting fat, but thinking the washer women are shrinking your gowns on purpose? priceless.) and I love reading her chapters. It's a unique insight to a well-written woman, crimes or no.

I would very much like clarification on this as well. I had originally used the same word when writing my previous reply to describe Shae... mainly because she is in fact a prostitute. Would it be okay in that context, none at all, or what? Not that I plan to use it often or ever, but it's handy information to have.

Characters I hate the most:

1. Gregor Clegane - just kill him already.  For good.  Please!
2.  Qyburn - Westeros' own version of Dr. Mengele.  
3.  Ramsey Bolton - cruel serial rapist/killer/torturer.  
4.  Walder Frey - treacherous breaker of guest-right protection, nasty old weasel.  He's lived too long.
5.  Tywin Lannister - orders the murders of babies, not to mention sending his Pillage Pack out to burn and kill.  
6.  Cersei Lannister - baby-killer, tosses inconvenient pawns to her pet torturer, and a few other things
7.  Joffrey Baratheon - At the age of 13 he's a monster with near-absolute power that will become absolute.
8.  Janos Slynt - just on general principle, he's not only brutal and cruel, but stupid
9.  Littlefinger - nasty, war-mongering, corrupter of anyone he can get his hooks into, he needs to lose all he values...
10. "The Kindly Man" - hate how he's exploiting Arya, turning her into a hired murderer, not to mention making her blind


Honorable Mention to Victarion and Theon; though they are very different people; when the going gets tough, they murder innocent people.
