Considering that Ser Bonifer Hasty - most likely a stout Targaryen loyalist due to his love for Queen Rhaella - ended up being castellan of Harrenhal after Taena's and Orton's influence over Cersei, I wonder if the Merryweathers - Orton even more so than Taena - might be among the friends the Golden Company supposedly has in the Reach.

After all, Owen Merryweather ended up being exiled to Essos by Aerys - just as Jon Connington later on. And his grandson Orton went with him and met Taena, his future wife, during his exile.

True, the Merryweathers were recalled to Westeros, and Robert restored some of their lands to them, but not all of them. Both Orton and Taena would have connections back to their home/exile, and as of yet we have no idea if young Orton Merryweather served with the Golden Company for a time. This would be entirely possible.

And there is much talk that Taena might have been working for Varys. As of yet I was not that sure about this, but it might not be that unlikely.

If you ask me it's much more likely that Longtable is going to declare for Aegon than Randyll Tarly is going to betray Mace... Any thoughts about this?

I agree that the Merryweathers have a slightly bigger chance of declaring for targs than Randyl tarly. However, for now i think they will stick by the lannisters in the hope of getting their lands back. They were stout targ loyalists, however since aerys robbed their lands and exiled them,i dont think their on the best of terms with the targaryens.

And whats to guarentee Aegon 6 will give them back their lands? He might just exile them again. No,i think they stick by lannister/tyrell for now.once the lan/tyrell alliance falls, they might join the targs.
Tarly has this perverted sense of justice which will prevent him from betraying his masters.

I'm fairly sure that Taena is a spy for Varys. Why she needs to have lesbian sex with Cersei to obtain information I don't know but I think she's a spy nonetheless.

I think Varys uses his Littlebirds. I think lesbian seduction is more Martell than eunuch don't you?
but why would the Merryweathers wont a Targaryen restoration? Aerys wasn't exactly great to them.
I imagine her reasons for spying either for the Martells or Littlefinger (or both simultaneously) are not necessarily ideological but more based on relationships (perhaps she is friends with Mellario of Norvos) or monetary (Littlefinger could be paying her).
If Taena is working for both LF and the Martells then she could working for Littlefinger for money, but her true loyalty and friendship might lie with Mellario (although she would also receive money).
