sinphonus
I was just wondering, of all the characters that are alive, who is the most famous, and known by the commoners, the blackfish and ser Barristan, but who else? When ser Rodrik goes to Tallhart Square Bran says a terribe war chief by the name of Dagmer Cleftjaw... so i suppose there are tales about him, but of whom else? Broken Fox
Jaime Lannister I'd say, even if he's not considered a 'hero' by all.
Ice Turtle
If you count even ones not considered exactly heroes by smallfolk:the Houndthe KingslayerKnight of Flowers Barristan the BoldBronze John RoyceGreatjonBlackfishStannis for his part in Greyjoy rebellion
zalim
Ser Barristan is the only true POPULAR hero who is still aliveother thn him i consider Davos and Jon to be heroes as well but they arent that pop.
Sven Wonders
You would have to say Jamie Lannister. He is well known for his swordsmanship, even though he has yet to be challenged in his current state(aside from payne)
chris999
If you mean only physically in westeros then it would probably be Jaime. The most famous alive, although not presently in Westeros at the moment would be Barristan
teemo
Well, Barristan is who first came in my head when I read this title. Not only is a great swordsman, but a kind, honorable and brave knight. He's definitely hero material. Umm....who else. I think Loras is pretty famous and also popular with the ladies. Jaime is definitely legendary, but a "hero"? I don't think he has the greatest of reputations. Oh! Mance Rayder was a hero of sorts and very respected, even if not always liked. Dany is a hero to some people...not mine, but some... chris999
although I guess that Stannis could be considered a "hero" for stopping the invasion of the wildlings

teemo
although I guess that Stannis could be considered a "hero" for stopping the invasion of the wildlingsYeah, I almost mentioned Stannis...but he seems like such an anti-hero sometimes, with how unloveable people tend to find him. He's my hero though
_Oberyn_
Selmy is the most famous i would think.
Jadiecat
It's a good question. I really like the moments in the book when characters stop at inns or other public places and encounter regular folk. You get a sense of how people are being affected by all that's going on, and how the events of the book are popularly perceived.I agree with all of the posts. I think there's been a lot of buzz, especially in the Riverlands, about the direwolf Nymeria, who leads a pack of hundreds of wolves, and has ravaged livestock and attacked and eaten people.Lady Stoneheart is known in some areas. Tyrion is definitely known. There have been "tall" tales about him since he was a baby.Who else?
The King in the South
Depends on your definition of hero. And being famous =/= heroIn the eyes of the smallfolk it's probably Barristan
Sven Wonders
You hear alot about the age of hero's in the books and it seems like most heros from that time have some sort of supernatural ability. Im not sure if anybody currently classifys as a hero but im sure we will have quite a few by the end of the series.
V for victarion
Yeah, I almost mentioned Stannis...but he seems like such an anti-hero sometimes, with how unloveable people tend to find him. He's my hero though :wub:It is true that he stopped the invasion of the free folk but just remember, the free folk aren't exactly evil, they just wanted to escape the others and all the other crap up there, so I completely understand why they were trying to escape south. Honestly I think it would have turned out a lot more interesting if they had smashed the wall.....
