Twitter exploded last night with news that The Simpsons made another reference to Game of Thrones in the latest episode… and not just any reference, but a long couch sequence spoofing the TV series’s opening with its clockwork world. You can see it here—and if you’re in the US and have cable or satellite, you can view the episode online at Fox’s official site.

That was quite funny.
GOT has now gotten I don't know how many 'product placement' (so to speak) spots.

I wonder , is HBO going to do some 'spots' on prime time networks? Not sure HBO does that kind of thing.

It could well do so, yes. It's supposed to work with HTML5 from the looks of it... but I guess it isn't. You might try io9.com, they have it.

So good. Love the do-nut rolling into Burns Landing, the three-eyed crow and The Couch.

There was a previous reference to the show on The Simpsons?

The credit sequence on The Simpsons was great.  You really can't beat a Simpsons opening couch grab when it comes to pop culture and it's more great publicity for the show.

Yeah, Patty (being a big fan of fantasy novels) claimed to be fluent in Dothraki in the episode 'The Book Job'. Was a random aside that only Game of Thrones fans woulda got ;)

I mean, if we're being super technical, the Dothraki language came from the show and not the books, but it was still a nice little nod.

CBS' The Big Bang Theory had a full episode about Sheldon buying a collectors' Longclaw.

Wasn't GOT on the tele in one of the episodes last fall of the Simpsons? I remember seeing a screen cap of it...found it:

This 23rd season of the long-running animated series ‘The Simpsons’ creator Matt Groening took comedic aim at HBO as well as it’s hit fantasy program Game of Thrones. In the episode, Crusty the Clown is trying to get his own show on the premium cable network “HBOTime” and durring the interview images of various television shows including Game of Thrones as well as The Sopranos fly across the screen! Take a look at The Simpsonized version of Game of Thrones:

Now I'm ready for a GoT version of Little Treehouse of Horror.

I'm thinking Skinner as Ned, Marge as Catelyn, Homer as Robert, Moe as Littlefinger, Fat Tony as Varys. It's too bad Helen Lovejoy is dead, because she would have been great as Cersei; maybe Mrs. Krebapple would work.

Helen Lovejoy isn't dead; you're thinking of Maude Flanders. :)

That spoof fascinated me as much as the opening sequence for GoT itself. Oh, and Burns' mansion! hauhauhauha

It's offical, GOT has arrived if the Simpsons include it somehow into either the opening or the intro. I love Burns Landing and the three eye crows coming out of the cooling towers. I wonder what a whole GOT themed Simpsons episode would look like...

Well, its possible (though unlikely) that they would do a Treehouse of Horrors GoT skit, probably ending with Homer getting his head cut off.

I think it was just the intro you are referring to in the 5th episode of season 5. But in later episodes you can sometimes see longclaw hanging on the wall. As to the simpsons spoof. I also loved the Burns Landing, Three eyed crow and The Couch. Those were the highlights if you ask me :P
