Where do you think he dissapeared to? Like seriously lol wth.

Whatever theory you have on this subject, write it here. Also if you think he's dead, no point commenting.

Anyways here's mine;

I think Benjen along with his remaining party saw the Others and their forces gathering up and getting ready. The sight would've made them awestruck and fearful at the same time since the army and threat stretched miles(Something like that). And Benjen could just judge from that very sight, that even the whole of Westeros wouldn't be able to defeat them, nevermind the Nights Watch. So he'd set off..........(Wait for it) to find the Children. He'd know that the power of the Children would be able to help and fight them off just like they did last time. And why would he believe in the children all of a sudden? Well what if he found evidence of their existence on his journey? He probably even found a corpse of some sort. Maybe he believed in the Children since he was a child like Bran does; maybe THAT'S why he joined the Nights Watch; to meet the Children. So yeah, when the huge epic battle between the Others and the forces of Westeros is going on, and all seems lost, out comes Benjen charging with the forces and power of the Children behind him.

Well that's my theory, I actually think this may be the case. Anyone else got any others?

If he is alive he was sent by BR to be Stark in Winterfell, because he needed Bran, Rickon is too young and there always must be a Stark in Winterfell ...

Well it's obvious, he is where the whores go, not sure where that is, probably Asshai :)

Now seriously, I hope we never see him again!! People die north of the wall, that is good enough for me. Maybe find out who killed him, but no more. I don't like the idea he is Coldhands

He's not Coldhands as Coldhand's is supposed to be 200 years dead whereas Benjen would've been 3.

I agree with the above. I think he was killed and we probably won't see him again except maybe in the form of an other (I hope not). I like the theory about "there must always be a stark in winterfell", but I don't think Benjen would find something extremely dangerous North of the wall then not at least run back to Caslte black to warn them of his findings.

I believe he is the hooded man at Winterfell in ADwD. I could be wrong but that's one of the crackpot theories going around that I actually subscribe to. "There must always be a Stark in Winterfell".

I think that Benjen has found the same truth that the Nightsking found. The same truth that was considered so bad, that they wiped everything about the Nightsking from history.

I love your theory Sarnius:)

He surely would know the legend about Azor Ahai and it's feasible that he would search for the COTF's help.

Coldhands cannot be Benjen; Coldhands was "killed long ago." If Benjen returned as an Other or wight, would it really matter? It is not as if he could be saved.

I think he died years ago and won't be returning in any form. Same with Syrio Florel.

i really like this theory.  It's one I hope to be true.  I'm also not so sold on the Coldhands theory.  This one however would be awesome for me, because it puts another branch on the Stark tree if he is alive.

Its too open ended for me to believe it will just be be revealed, oh yeh theres Benjens body, hes indeed dead.   nah

I do not believe he is Coldhands at all,  never really did.

The hooded man in Winterfell isnt crazy to me.  Thatd be kinda cool actually.

I cant see him as a wight, if he was changed id think full blown Other,  i do not know, but I cant wait to find out.

Probably dead, but he could have become an Other.  If he did become an Other, I'm foreseeing this dramatic scene where Jon is fighting the Others and he sees him and is like "Uncle Ben?" and Jon goes through this whole inner struggle of whether he should kill him or not, but then at the very last second he realizes that none of Uncle Ben is left and has to destroy him.  That is of course
Spoiler

The gods have taken him down into the earth, into the trees. The gods are all around us, in the rocks and streams, in the birds and beasts. Your Benjen has gone to join them. He’ll be the world and all that’s in it.
