When did Tywin Lannister become your favourite character?

Note:My favorite moment between Book&TV series changes, since in TV series Tywin appears a little earlier.
In the Books:
"Because you are my son!"
In the TV Series:
Since I saw his face and that stag being flayed by him!

And he stayed my favorite character for almost, like, till the end of that chapter.
Then I went back to hating the evil bastard.
(Yes, I already used that line on another thread, but couldn't help myself. It's just so ... emblematic.)

He would have brought peace and stability to the realm, which would have made for a very boring ending of the series, thus GRRM had to kill him off.

Sure you're not forgetting about Daenerys, dragons and the Others, Jon Connington and the Golden Company, Faceless Men and Arya- Super Assassin, Littlefinger and Varys etc. etc.? Or did you mean- had he been infallible?
Rather incredible that Tywin is so often given credit for being the only one capable of bringing peace and stability, when really it's something that could be brought about- or not, by any number of different permutations. As his end on the privy shows us, Tywin was in the end as fallible as any other man.

I agree. He was a fine Machiavellian leader capable of bringing stability to the realm and rebuilding the Seven Kingdoms. Too bad he got killed and everything he did turned into nothing. Now I have to support Stannis, although he's a little bit too stubborn. I'd want to see the Targaryens back in power, but Daenerys seems too stupid as of Dance with Dragons, Aegon might not even be real and Jon (?) is dead (?) for the moment.

That about sums up my feelings, too - he's not a likable character at all, but i can't help but admire his sheer competence. That's an unusual way to compliment someone, but look at who we have to compare him to. Except for Stannis, the heads of every other great house are complete ninnies (yes, I'm including Robb, who lost the war because he couldn't keep it in his pants).
After the red wedding, he also had a line that I still can't quite refute: why is it glorious to kill ten thousand men, but treachery to kill a dozen (or something to that effect). He's wrong, but he's also right.
ETA: Ninja'd.
