I think it's new.

Aang frustrated the life out of me in 'Last Airbender'. Hope this girl is a little more kickass.

Looking forward to it. :)

The old water tribe lady with the hair loopys looked A LOT like Katara.

Very excited. My daughter and I LOVE the original series.

There is no doubt it my mind that is Katara; though i heard the rest of the GAang have passed away by now.

I want to be really excited, really i do - but the more i see the more worried i become; maybe it just my overly cynical nature but it just doesn't look as polished as the original.

Eh? The original didn't have the smoothest animations or art style, either. It wins on telling a great story, and staying true to the characters. Either way, I think the products have done a great job with their first series, and we owe them at least an open mind to try out the second series.

Question: Which channels will carry this in the U.S.? Is it still going on Nick?

ETA

Answered my own question. Yes, it's on Nick, and not Nick2.

It'd make sense if the old lady was a relative of the main character, as she looks very like Katara anyway.

Yes, the old woman is Katara.

We don't know whether any other characters from the previous show are coming back, but Dante Basco (voice of Zuko) is voicing an unknown character in Korra.

Here's the WSJ trailer (it was in the first article, but it's not the linked trailer several posts above):

My body is in no way, shape, or form ready for this. But it'll be incredible

Hope my personal canon doesn't conflict with this show to much. Still going to enjoy though I'm sure.

The only thing that's worried me so far is the overly childish narrative voice-over in the trailers.  Luckily, the scenes I've seen so far all look good and fit with what we know and love about Avatar, but those voice-overs are annoying.

Although... maybe it's just bothering me because it's pointing out that this is a kid's show and I'm an adult and I'm getting way too excited about it...

So 12 episodes for season 1, and then 14 more for the second season, but I don't know when that second season will air. And for the first season I don't know how many episodes they show per week. Maybe just one?

12 episodes is pretty brief considering the length of these episodes.
