I do believe they'll be in the same scale.

We will not be using the same maps or map artist, at least from what I was last told.

Fantastic! Bedroom wall, prepare yourself for one framed triple-megamap. In fact I've got an abundance of unused picture hooks scattered around my house, I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up framing the whole lot....

No further north than the ASoS maps that end just north of Thenn more or less, I believe. Pretty sure the only new geography will be the eastern maps.

i'm okay with this . jpg

but it's still kinda weird coz martin has stated we might be seeing the LOAW in the next two novels. maybe we wont get to go THAT far up north

I think the idea with all maps in the series is that we don't know any more than the characters. Regardless of who travels there, the Lands of Always Winter will still be unmapped. I think it's why we didn't get an Essos map in aCoK, so we could share Dany's perspective of not knowing what awaited her past the Red Waste. Whoever's POV we see tLoAW from, they won't know their way around.

Yeah, the 'Known World' extract is very interesting. I'm assuming that's one of the new areas in the east of the Dothraki Sea, or even to its east, beyond that big new mountain range. Though that raises the question of who built 'the Five Forts'. I'm also guessing 'Land of the Shrykes' is a nod to Dan Simmons?

I was wondering If I would buy a book of posters and it seems that I will now. The maps looks fantastic

It's really, really beautiful. I'm buying, never expected myself to buy a mapbook myself either, but hell, this is ASOIAF we're talking about!
