This should convince the people in charge to consider the world book, the map book, and other supplementary stuff to be quite interesting (at least I will try to convince them ;-)).

The centerpiece of this gorgeous collection is guaranteed to be a must-have for any fan: the complete map of the known world, joining the lands of the Seven Kingdoms and the lands across the Narrow Sea for the first time in series history. But this is just one of many unique maps that aren’t available anywhere else. There is an alternate version that tracks the movements of the series’ protagonists throughout their vast world, along with more detailed versions of the western, middle, and eastern thirds of the world; a full map of Westeros, combining North and South; one of the Dothraki Sea and the Red Wastes; and the Braavos city map. And here, too, are fan favorites detailing everything from urban sprawl to untamed wilds: maps of King’s Landing; The Wall and Beyond the Wall; the Free Cities; and Slaver’s Bay, Valyria, and Sothyros.
Never before has the entire scope of Martin’s universe been so exhaustively and fascinatingly depicted. The maps in this beautiful, one-of-a-kind atlas will enrich your reading or viewing experience, provide another view of your favorite characters’ epic journeys, and open up captivating new worlds—plus, they’ll look great on any castle wall.

I'm assuming the maps have been drawn from The World of Ice and Fire, which will be a much bigger book with tons of new background information on the setting. That doesn't sound like it's due until 2013 however.
Ok cool,, that sounds great

After the Lands of Ice and Fire poster maps are published I will be working on a new version of my map for use in my Animated Timeline Map project so you will eventually get to see my interpretation of the finished maps, or Tear may decide to give it a go himself which would be awesome because he does a much better job of blending colours than I do. I expect it will be early 2013 before I finish that map.

Am I geeky enough to have a framed world map at the end of my bed? Oh Gods, I think I am...

I also added an equator. This is based on 1) the planet being the same size as Earth and 2) the Wall being on the Arctic Circle. Neither of which may be accurate (GRRM's recent comments about his world being a sort-of alternative reality replacement for Earth may suggest he's backed off from his idea of the planet being larger than Earth, but who knows?).

As I posted in detail on the World of Ice and Fire thread, the fact that the Arctic Treeline ends at between 66 degrees and 70 degrees North, means that the northern tip of the Haunted Forest has to fall on this latitude. And with the Wall being about 600-800 miles south of the northern edge of the Haunted Forest, it means that the Wall lies on about 60 degrees latitude at most, putting it at least 6 degrees south of the Arctic Circle.
Other than that, great map.
