Would do the same thing, except then claim the throne for myself.

I'd probably do the exact same thing that Jaime did as it worked pretty well.

He does everything he did in reality in addition to killing himself.

No Aerys + the city is not destroyed + No false heirs, saving the kingdom of a future civil war or at least making it less likely. So with hindsight it might be the best option for us who know the future of Westeros.

Edit: If possible to control his actions to that decree (considering the 30 seconds limit probably not possible) he goes to protect Ellia and her children and he also doesn't screw his sister once she becomes queen for the sake of the kingdom, his own and his sister's self preservation and for being fearful of possible consequences to it. Of course then he would not had been Jaime.

Do exactly what Jaime did, except then go and protect the prince's wife and children.

Jaime should have done that, but then, we all have the benefit of hindsight. It's understandable that he didn't, as he had no reason to suspect they were in any real danger, and in high stress situations such as that it would be hard to think straight.

I'm not fussed that he killed Aerys, but he should have gone to make sure Elia and the children were secure after he did it instead of sitting on the throne until Ned showed up.

Same exact thing as Jaime.  It's really unfortunate what happened to Elia and the children, he had no idea they were going to do that seeing as how there was NO POINT in killing Elia, Gregor is just a monster.  If I could have thought clearly after murdering my psychotic king as he pissed his pants, I def would have went to check on them and had Varys get them out of there ASAP.  Also, I'm pretty sure he was lackiing for time too right?  As soon as he killed Aerys, he heard soldiers storming into the castle?  Probably made it even harder to think straight.

I agree, he should at least have tried to save Elia and the kids, he would have been able to redeem some of his honor in the eyes of Ned and Westeros.

Must I talk politics with him? Can't I just stare at him for 30 seconds? :)

Do you mean for his right hand, or?

I wouldnt change. I would kill Aerys, no time to thing, have to save the city. Jaime didnt have the time to hide the body, that is sad, I wish he had time to hide the body for the man he is, but I'm glad he didnt have time to hide it for the main story.

Well, having control over Jaime for 30 seconds with the full advantage of hindsight is very different from being Jaime right there and then and having to be him for the rest of his life.

I do the same thing, that is, begin to head for my chambers to change from my white armour to a golden one. If I had time I'd still kill Rossard on the way back to the throne room, but 30 seconds is way way way too short.

Kill Rossard, punch Aerys out and make sure no other Pyromancers got their orders. Then just wait for the Rebels and explain that he knocked out Aerys to protect him and keep him from doing something crazy like trying to attack Ned or Robert himself.

Considering Jaime's choice prevented a massacre, I pobrably would have done the same thing.

Additionally...Aerys had beaten and raped his wife, burned alive so many people unnecessarily and unfairly,  so I would have added that to my personal reason for acting.

If not kill him, then at least knock him unconcious, haha. Just explain "Oh, yeah, he tripped. Ahem"

If time permitted, would definitely try to see Elia and the kids (Something I honestly wish Jaime could have at least attempted to do) instead of just sitting on a throne and waiting.

Now there's a quandary. He's on Tywin's orders... but hell if he's going to fight/attempt to kill Tywin's son to get them done.

Well... maybe he would. The guy was a brutish monster even then. :x

Gag Aerys and detain him. stop the archmaesters and order a general evacuation of Kings Landing. Tell the truth about the Wildfire everywhere. Take him to his father, Tywin, tell him about everything and let him decide the proper course there on out.

Same thing Jaime did, but 30 seconds isn't nearly enough time. He should've claimed the throne for himself though. That would've been something.

30 Seconds aren't that much time to change history a lot.
If the pyromancer and Aerys would be at the same place, knock Aerys out, bind him to the throne and wound the pyromancer so he could not get away but is still able to tell the tale afterwards. Then sit on the stairs and wait for Ned but NOT on the throne. 30 seconds up...
Maybe hope that Jamie has enough sense to tell Ned the whole story.

Would saving Rhaegar's children really have been good for anyone but them? It seems like that would have created more problems than it solved
