If you want a good history of the books, and you've read all the books, try reading the threads from the original start, followed by 19 Sandor threads, and then get into the Theon, then Sansa. You won't run out of reading material for a couple of years.

Ned Stark, on 28 March 2012 - 07:34 AM, said:
It's a literal tower in a mountain pass in Dorne, where R+L had joy. Ned tore it down and used the rocks to build cairns for the bodies of the slain KG and and his friends, as it was only a Tower of Sorrow for him.
And depending on the context, it's a slang expression in Dorne for a hard on.

But depends on the discussion and usually means...
FM = Faceless Men / Man
HOBAW = House of Black and White
MMD = Mirri Maz Duur
NK = Night's King
LC = Lord Commander
LB = Lightbringer
Besides what has been mentioned already that's all I can think of right now

LC can be both Lord Commander of the Nights Watch and Lord Commander of the Kings Guard (but I guess anyone can tell apart Jon Snow and Jamie Lannister, no?)
KG = Kingsguard
KL = Kings Landing

Revived Catelyn, also known as Lady Stoneheart, "un" referring to "undead". Same usage for "UnGregor", although "Gregorstein" or "FrankenGregor" are also used.

My noob question would be, what does ETA mean? I know it is a general abbreviation like IMO (in my opinion) and not something directly related to the series...
Thank you for your helpful replies...

I always assumed the abreviations were due to bad spellings. (Or maybe that's reversed.) That's why I do it. Otherwise I would spell out everything. I loath texting and have a horrid memory for accronyms (spelling, see what I mean). I am of the theory, if you use less shortcuts your posts are more clear. My
Sorry I don't have any to add. Informative thread though.

I'd like to add my own abbreviation in case no one's already mentioned it: TKMNN = They Killed Mah Niggah Ned (if you're unfamiliar, check youtube for reactions to Ned's death)
