They should've got a black guy to play him.

@ Sarnius

I agree with you that Dolorous Edd could've have been played by a black guy.  ( I think I did quote what I agreed with though :) I dunno lol)

My problem with Ben Crompton, the actor playing Edd, is that his lines aren't spoken all that clearly. Given his thick accent and the fact his best lines are short and pointed, it blunts the character's presence somewhat. It's hard to chuckle at a line when you need to struggle to understand it.

I don't get why you think he should be black? His description is supposed to be very thin, dour, and with grey hair. His "dour" expressions are funny and self deprecating. Are black people funnier to you? I'm not trying to criticize you, but I am curious.

I think Ben Crompton is a crap dolorous edd, his delivery of the lines is really bad, not funny, comes off more as a dick than a curmudgeon  They should just dub over him with Roy Dotrice.

This may just be due to me being British, but I have no trouble whatsoever understanding him.  Just be glad they didn't get a Geordie...

Though, to be fair, mayhaps the whole show should be dubbed over with Roy Dotrice.

I thought he did reasonably well, but the audience is not going to have a clue who he is unless he gets introduced sometime.
