IIRC, He brought peace and justice to Kings Landing. Not that it worked, but that was his goal.

Indeed, this was his ultimate goal and that which was a piece of him that helped us all love him I think. Well besides his wits and tongue.

I felt so bad for Tyrion. He had worked so hard to make the city ready for war and defend the city when the time came. He's rewarded for his hard work by mockery. He's blamed for all the evil that his nephew has done. No one can see that he's given all he can to help the city's defense.
