There's already a thread on here for this, but this was the house that I created...

Name: House Dawnfire

Words: The Dawn must always break.

Founder: Lady Astala Dawnfire

Current Lord: Lord Elion Dawnfire

Sigil: A gold circle on a plain white field

Location: The North, near the Wall.

Castle: First Flame

Sword: Restgiver, lost when First Flame was put to the torch. The Dawnfires still believe that one day, Restgiver will be found and it shall be then that they will need to take up the sword once more against their ancient enemy, the Others.

Religion: R'hllor the Red God

Sworn to: House Stark

Vassals: Once House Umber swore fealty to First Flame, but when the fortress was destroyed by the dragon king, they were raised up by House Stark. They now have no vassals.

Blood: Lady Astala was originally from Dorne and the Dornish physical traits are still very much apparent in the Dawnfire line.

Status: In exile.

House Dawnfire and First Flame were founded after the War for the Dawn. Lady Astala lead a band of fighters against the Others during the War for the Dawn after losing all of her children in the initial invasion and proved instrumental in regaining the North. When Brandon Stark was named the first King in the North, Astala was rewarded with First Flame, a great fortress on the edge of the Gift. First Flame was to be the North's first and mightiest defence against Others in the unlikely event that the Wall should fall.

House Dawnfire continued their line unbroken for eight thousand years as loyal subjects to the King in the North. Dawnfires and Starks often married and their strong alliance helped to put down the Boltons in their constant rebellions against Winterfell.

When Aegon and his sisters landed in Westeros, Lord Narian Dawnfire urged Torrhen Stark to take his banners south and fight off the Targaryens. For reasons still unknown, when Torrhen bent the knee to Aegon, Narian returned to First Flame in a black rage. The Dawnfires called their banners and marched toward Winterfell in the name of Northern freedom and independence, though the maesters of Oldtown believe that there must have been another reason for his rebellion, though it is not known what. The Dawnfires proved such a problem to the Starks that Aegon himself had to come North to put their rebellion down and his dragon had to burn First Flame to the ground.

After that, the remaining few Dawnfires fled to Skagos where they married into one of the Skagosi noble families. The Starks knew of this, yet never bothered to stamp them out entirely because they posed no threat on Skagos. Since then, the Dawnfires have slowly grown in the numbers and power on Skagos and still dream of returning to their home and birthright to rebuild. When Robb Stark was crowned King in the North, the Dawnfires were heartened and considered revealing themselves and swearing fealty once more. After the ironborn invasion, these hopes were dashed, but they intended to march with Robb when he broke Moat Cailin. However, this hope was also dashed when Robb was murdered at the Red Wedding. So enraged were the Dawnfires that they swore vengeance of Houses Frey and Bolton and began to plot and scheme for their downfall. Presently, House Dawnfire is mustering it's strength on Skagos, working in secret alliance with Wyman Manderly and a collective of Stark loyalists known as the Vengeful Pack. They harbour Rickon Stark in their keep as a page to Lord Elion, and soon enough they intend to march upon the Dreadfort with the strength of Skagos, White Harbour and the Vengeful Pack, which together amounts to some twenty thousand men.

House Name: Maddix

Sigil: A Rampant Black Stallion with fiery Hooves

Words: With Spirits Aflame!

Unofficial Saying: A stallion cornered is a stallion still. (Popular warning)

Status: Exiled (believed to be extinct)

Current Lord: Rian Maddix (False Names for secrecy: Rian Halberd, Rian Hartly, Rian Sand, Rian Snow) A landless lord of cunning intellect.

House Weapon: Charger. A valyrian sword currently in the hands of the Lannisters.

Brief History: Maddix is of little note in early history. Arriving with the Andals, Robert Maddix was a squire who disguised himself as a Knight to win a great tourney held by the Castlerys. Awarded an area of pastury lands for winning the tourney, Robert did what he did best, raised and trained horses. Known as the Horselords, House Maddix grew in power spawning several branches of family.

The Field of Fire claimed 5 sons of the Maddix family but unlike the Lannisters, they fought Aegon's men afterwards. Their quick and violent charges laid waste to assembled forces, making them a formidable opponents. They eventually quelled and bent the knee to Aegon. This did show their distance from their Lannister overlords, the Maddix had been friends of the Castlerys. They ruled from their seat in Duskwatch Keep, at the city of Fairpoint, a trade center to rival Lannisport.

Never afraid of the great Lions of Lannisport, the Maddix family often referred to them derisively as the "Clever kittens". Several small conflicts existed between the houses but neither went to all out war. That changed just after the crowning of King Robert. House Maddix, (already in hot water for going against Tywin's orders and aiding the rebels before the Rock sided with them) refused to pay taxes to the Lannisters. Their vaults spent in rebuilding crops destroyed in battles that strayed to closesly to their lands and ransoming 5 of the 10 Maddix brothers (Lord Phillip in command at the time.) left them with nothing.

When a branch house, the Stablers, was occupied by Tywin's men, Phillip called all loyal banners to him. A bloody war raged for one year, "The War of the West" it was called. By the end 7 of the Maddix brothers and their kin lay dead. 3 remained in Fairpoint for one final stand against the advancing sea and land forces of the Lannisters. Tywin rode to the walls of Duskwathc and called on Phillip to surrender, that any resistance was hopeless. Philip's response: "Aye maybe Proud Lannister. But this will be no Castamere, it will be a tradgedy both houses will share. The Stallion dies maybe, but he dies kicking!"

Claiming many lives, the 3 brothers were killed and all heirs died when the badly battered Duskwatch collapsed into rubble. Fairpoint remains, but far from loyal to the Lannisters. It is said that, should a Stallion ever find his way back to Fairpoint, he'll find his herd waiting. A landless lord is not a powerless one, as the Lannisters may soon find out.

-Seat name: Roonehall or Roone's Hall

-Religion: Very fervent to the Seven.

-Current Head of the House: Lord Roone (no first name specified).

-Blood: Dornish (?)

-Heirs: Terrence Roone, Quentyn Roone

-Location of seat: Between Blackhaven and Stonehelm, on the south-est coast of the Boneway.

-House weapon: (?)

-Sworn to: Sworn to the House Baratheon

now a grey haired man and 15 year vet of the Eyrie, ser Roone or aka "Rune", Martin Rivers/Snow/Storm, Daron Santagar, and many others was released as a new ally to the crown after Robert's Rebellion. He quickly amassed troops where he was stationed in the Reach near Horn Hill and Dark Dell, and openly defied ser Randyll Tarly in a turf conflict. The latter was badly defeated in two separate skirmishes, the second one having Highgarden with him.

Lord Roone showed prowess in using archers, ingenious stealth and guerrilla warfare, and succefully trapping a large amount of Tarly's troops.

Instead of being attacked by all sides of the kingdom, the mysterious Roone was given land and a lordship in a inhabited part of the marcher lands (where he is now one of the acting marcher lords), in exchange for his future "help", and further benefit to the realm.

Longtime member of the Second Sons and other sellsword companies (guess which ones!!), little is known of the mysterious Lord, other than he is a very eclectic fighter. He has a large influential circle from his long life in Essos, and has friends in almost all of the free cities. Lord Roone is now a spymaster and military commander who has secretly studdied in the citadel in his past and has deep ties in the ports of oldtown. He also has close ties with Varys who was the first to seek him out after the rebellion.

It rumoured, amongst being a vicious sellsword, pirate and other things, that the old lord was a faceless man, and that he was an exiled knight of House Santagar in his past...

House: Clarek

First Lord: Lord Tommen Clarek

Current Lord: Lord Kevan Clarek

Sigil: A green snake strangling a gold lion on a field of black.

Motto: Always One Waiting.

Seat: Castle Red

Relgion: The Old Gods

Blood: A mix of the Andals and the First Men.

Location: From the Red Lake to the Golden Grove.

House Weapon: A Valyrian sword with a stone pummel that is decorated in rubies. It is named Hellfire

Sworn to: The Lannisters

Backstory: House Clarek is a house that would seem more important than it is. While it hold's considerable land and has royal blood, it also has the habit of being too fertile for it's own good. Each generation is lucky to have only a dozen children, and with a tendency for mostly girls, the dowries are almost impossibly large when all added up. They are lucky however, as they have access to five highly successful mines and they have a tendency for beauty. The current lord is onto his third marriage and has 16 children. They believe in a prophecy that came with a woman in the Great Conquest, which says that they shall take Casterly Rock after a hundred men die by the hand of their lord. This led to their sigil changing from a green snake to a green snake strangling a golden lion. Unfortunately, they don't create great warriors and tend to fatness after the age of thirty. But this led to a distrust from the Lannisters that meant that more girls of Clarek have married into the Tyrells (3 girls) than the Lannisters (1 girl). They have stayed out of the Game of Thrones but want the Tyrells to win.

House: Vilgerdarson
Current Lord: Floki IX

Sigil: A black raven flying over three brown ships.
Motto: "True to our friends and our gods"
Seat: Ravenshore
Religion: The Old Gods
Blood: Northern/ Ironborn
Location: Cape Kraken
House Weapon: Valyrian Steel axe called "Winter's Bite" (plundered from an old raid: previous name long forgotten)
Sworn to: House Stark
Backstory:
King Floki is a name not usually recorded in Westerosi history, though his own adventure was remarkable. A few hundred years before the dragons conquered the Seven Kingdoms, a man named Floki Vilgerdarson declared himself to be King of the Ironborn. It was not his warrior's strength which convinced him he was worthy, for he was a clever fighter who fought with guile and speed rather than strength. Nor was it his skills in shipbuilding, though he was considered a very worthy shipbuilder. It was his devotion to the old gods, developed upon interactions with surviving First Men taken as slaves, which possessed him with the realization that he alone could rule the Iron Islands through him.

Naturally, his 'kingship' lasted barely a year before the Drowned Men and the reigning Hoare dynasty made war upon House Vilgerdarson. Floki's lands were overrun, and three of his sons died defending their father's claim. With his wife, their two remaining sons, all of their remaining bannermen, and all their families, Floki fled the Iron Islands, sailing west.

Legend has it that for a time, Floki's fleet was lost after a series of storms left them confused and unable to decide where to sail. The sun wasn't seen for several days, leaving them uncertain which direction to choose. Upon a prayer to the gods, Floki was inspired to release his last raven from its cage. It flew high into the air, and flew off into the distance. Floki urged his ships to follow it with all haste. The raven led them to the stormy shores of Cape Kraken, in the North. Floki disembarked and found the raven perched on a hill overlooking the shore. He declared that this would be their new home, which he later called Ravenshore.

The arrival of several hundred Ironborn would normally have troubled House Stark and their bannermen into driving them into the sea. But they were appeased by Floki's convincing love for the Old Gods, as well as his fealty to the Northern lords who would surely welcome them as they had welcomed the Manderlys so many years before. Reluctantly, the King in the North permitted Floki to take charge of Cape Kraken, provided he give his sons Northern wives. Floki, who had always been mistrusted among the Ironborn for his eccentricities and dismissed as a liar and trickster, swore that his banners would always be faithful, and his family would never forget who had given them what they had.

Thus it was that House Vilgerdarson took charge of Cape Kraken. Floki was true to his word, wielding his hatchets and his famed battleaxe Winter's Bite against Ironborn reavers who dared to raid Cape Kraken. It was whispered that any Ironborn captured by House Vilgerdarson was committed to death by "blood eagle", a horrific torture which left the condemned man's spine and ribs broken, and his lungs pulled out through his back. Floki was once reported to have bragged that he had salted the blood eagle wounds of a hundred Ironborn for every son he had lost to them.

Due to the frequent skirmishes on the western shore, coupled with the sparse living to be made on Cape Kraken, the population remained smaller than the rest of the North. The suspicion and dislike that the North had for the Ironborn also ensured House Vilgerdarson to be isolated, despite their continued loyalty and honouring of the gods. Vilgerdarson ships, though never plentiful, sallied out against the Ironborn reavers throughout the history of the North.

And so the house survived, passing on their faith, their ferocity, and their names throughout the generations. Floki and his son Faxe would both eventually fall in battle with the Ironborn, when both were of a great age yet still riding out from Ravenshore to battle their hated enemies. Lord Floki IV, named so for his infamous ancestor, was among the Northerners that Torrhen Stark brought with him when he knelt to Aegon the Conqueror. Another Floki, the eighth to carry this name, sent three sons and a sixty Ravenshore men to join Eddard Stark's forces during Robert's Rebellion. Only one son and twelve men would ever return to Cape Kraken. This young man became Floki IX upon his father's death during the Greyjoy Rebellion. This rebellion was particularly harsh on House Vilgerdarson: three parts of their fleet was annihilated in battle, and very few of their fighting men returned to look upon Ravenshore again. Thus it was with very limited resources that Floki IX could hope to fight against the Iron Fleet sent out by Balon Greyjoy during the War of the Five Kings. Floki, himself a proud Stark loyalist, sent out a raven to Brandon Stark when he himself found out about Victarion Greyjoy's movements, but by the time it reached Winterfell, Theon had already taken the castle.

In the months of devastation following this, House Vilgerdarson has laid low, avoiding the attention of House Bolton, whom they despise for supplanting the Starks. Floki IX began to marshal what men he could gather into a small army, training them and preparing his lands for winter. Reputedly the cleverest Vilgerdarson in a dozen generations, Floki IX has heard of what happened at the Red Wedding, and has determined that when the time comes, he will lead his men into the Neck, seeking House Reed's guidance so that they can strike directly at House Frey in revenge for their unforgivable crimes. Time will tell if House Vilgerdarson can once again prove their loyalty to the true leaders of the North.
