Funny thing is van Houton can speak English with a flat Midwestern American accent.
Wlaschiha, who is German,is using the damnest strange slight inflections on his English as Jaqen.... van Houton has a weird accent too, all to the good in my opinion.
My only reservation is D&D have said they wanted to avoid a cliched 'witch' characterization, which is the right idea.
So they are having van Houton underplay with the pitch of her voice and demeanor , I don't think they found exactly the right note, tho, I thought van Houton did better in episode 2 than 1.
D&D's Melisandre is less a stereotype than GRRM's (sorry George)...but I like that.
D&D have , however, have not found a way to make that ruby glow so it does not look like some Hollywood hyped geegaw.
Keeping things subdued.
Some craftiness needed here, hope they can find it.
