In the wake of the announcement of Game of Thrones being renewed for a 3rd season (which George R.R. Martin also commented on), Northern Ireland Screen has confirmed that the production will continue to be based in Northern Ireland. Th show will receive funding from the Northern Ireland Screen fund supported by Invest NI and part funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Shooting will take place in the Paint Hall film studio, the new sound stages in Belfast, the Linen Mill Film Studios in Banbridge and various other locations throughout Northern Ireland.

I was very supprised when I heard that my Favourite TV show was made in my home country, even more my home town!

It's nice to see Northern Ireland isn't all that obscure.

Good to hear the show is receiving funding outside HBO. This can allow more production ideas to get off the ground.

I wish they could get more funding from the governments or municipalities of their shooting locations. It'll be a great investment, especially for tourism. Much like New Zealand where LotR was shot, Ireland, Malta, etc. could profit from promoting their shores as the basis for Game of Thrones.

You need to try to be an extra or something. Or crash the set. :wideeyed:

It's sure not this year! Belfast is the construction site of a rather famous ship having its 100 anniversary event all over TV here in the US this April.

I was in Ballintoy (where they filmed the Iron Island's harbour and other bits and bobs) during the filming and they had the site pretty well locked down! Got one run round and it doesn't look too different!

Old linen mill in Banbridge to be used again for S3:  http://www.banbridge...-mill-1-3738724
Is this the mill
Spoiler
I don't remember it being revisited after that event; could this be an indication of the Theon storyline being pushed to S3 for a large part?
