Does this show get any better?  I watched the first three episodes with my wife and her friend and my only impression is that this may be the most overrated steaming pile of horse shit on television.

simply, no.

if you didn't like the first three, you won't like the rest.

I had the same impression. And of course I now hear it won a golden gobe for best comedy.
Award shows are the worst.

critic are always suckers for shows labeled as comedies that aren't funny

Everyone has different tastes. Suffice it to say, I think it's great fun, not a gut-buster kind of thing but something that's good enough to win a laugh or two and engage you. What makes it interesting for me is the rawness of it and the naked vulnerability that Lena Dunham infuses all the characters with.

It's certainly a better show than any of its fellow nominees except perhaps Modern Family.

Marnie was my favorite character last season (an unpopular choice, I know) and I will likely continue to enjoy her story based on what I saw in the season two opener.

Also, I am such a huge Andrew Rannells fangirl it hurts.  Seriously, I love every thing he does.

I realize this show just isn't for me. I've seen all the episodes but ultimately I just don't care about any of the characters. Annoying.

I totally get that.  My feelings on this show are similar to what Ran described.  There's some laughs, but the the show has an unfiltered, raw quality that I find appealing.  The most annoying part of the show, for me, is how important people seem to be trying to make it.  I recall being annoyed by that both in the media and in this very thread, and that doesn't appear to have changed much.

Even though I fit the demographic of the main characters, I can't say I relate directly all that much either, but I definitely appreciate the rawness. Maybe there are other shows that are like it, but just the awkward sex scene with the pharmacist nailed it for me. That kind of honesty is really appealing to me. Not all charcters are thin and gorgeous and suffer from only cute, superficial flaws. I can dig that.

No dislike for Marnie either, probably the character I can relate to the least, but I find her story interesting. Can't say I dislike anyone but possibly Hannah, definitely interesting story, but her character is just too entitled and insufferable for me to not cringe occasionally when watching her scenes.

I felt really differently about Marnie this last episode. She's only ever annoyed me before, hence previous rants, but I really cared about her all of a sudden. Shoshanna is just terrific, as usual, and I want to see more of Elijah.
I felt really, really sorry for Adam. I thought Hannah's rejection of him was immensely harsh. She had obviously been doing a lot for him and he had remained his difficult self, but it was unfair to just suddenly tell him she never wanted to see him again, when he was obviously really lonely. And I'm not a huge Adam fan or anything.
I really enjoy the show. I'm glad it's getting so much attention. It's thought-provoking, unlike anything else around, and very zeitgeist-y. That said, I can completely understand how it won't be everyone's cup of tea. But I really like it.

Well shit.  The internet just informed me that Andrew Rannells is leaving after the fourth episode due to scheduling conflicts with filming The New Normal.  :(

sure, and i'd say its better than modern family, but that only furthers the point that award shows are clueless and out of touch or way behind the times when it comes to comedy.

three of those nominees had no place being named, and only one out of their five (girls) was even a borderline top ten comedy in 2012.

I tried watching again and still found the characters impossible to relate to. Might as well call the show First World Problems.

I work in a manufacturing plant. Lots of professional college educated 20 something women work there. They are nothing like the self absorbed characters on this show. They are focused on their jobs and their families. They aren't getting hammered and partying and sleeping around.

Well, crap.  I saw a couple of episodes last season and was wondering if I should try it back up again since being reminded of its existence by the Golden Globes.  Honestly though, it doesn't seem to have much of a point, and I can always call up one of my 23 yr old friends and ask how her life is going instead.

That's because they have to work for a living. I'm 24 and know a good mix of both types of people and the ones who have to work to support themselves/worked in college are much more mature and much less of a pain in the ass. I think this show is a very good, and enjoyable, depiction of how trust fund babies generally behave.

Ditto to this but I think Commoddore was probably more referring to their general whininess and uselessness.
