Theon is a still developing character., He has yet to find his place in this world. Last we've seen, he was with Stannis. Stannis will most likely keep him alive and restore his mental health, since Stannis needs him and his claim.
Victarion no longer respects Euron, and when he returns there will likely be a war. Victarion may or may not have dragons with him depending on his Red Priest and what he's up to. Who knows? But it seems likely to me Victarion WILL return. Following Martins trajectory, he is a pivitol character in Euron, Theons and Damphairs story. So I'm sure Pyke will be burning.
Damphair and Asha now claim that the Kingsmoot lacks legitimacy because the best claimant, Theon, was absent. Thus they seem to line up to want Theon as King as a last resort in order to oust Euron.
Victarion has expressed many times as he is a second son, a man taught to follow. He likes to be led, instructed. It is unlikely he will reject Theon due to this. He will prefer Theon over Euron and side with Theon due to the bad blood between Euron and Victarion over his dead salt wife.
But Damphair will not allow a godless man to sit the sea stone chair. And Theon has spent too long in the green lands. Only one thing will convince Damphair that Theon is worthy -
The theory is, Pyke will be a bloody battle between Euron Vs. Theon, Damphair and Victarion. Fire on water as long ships are burnt - salt and smoke. Damphair will then drown Theon and Theon will thus be born again amidst smoke and salt - the smouldering ruins of the battle in the bay right before he is crowned King.
The trajectory seems to align, as Theon would finnally realize his place in the world and identity - who is Theon? He's a kraken, but a northerner and loved the Starks. What would Theon do? He'd destroy half of the Seven Kingdoms, that's what. He'd destory Bolton and the Bastard and reclaim Winterfell for the Starks. Sack Kings Landing and exact justice for Ned. And destory Highgarden because they stand with the Lannisters.
He'd sack Kings Landing and Highgarden himself with his Iron Fleet. The only question is, what happens to Stannis after Theon is sent back to the Islands? To take the north, Theon needs northmen. This makes me think it may actually be the Wildlings and Jon Snow he ends up fighting alongside rather than Stannis.
Anyway, so this is all a huge twist. The only thing that really leads it to be probable is the ritual of drowning by Damphair under the pretext of a war in the bays of Pyke. Along with the trajectory of Theon eventually finding out his true identity and what that will mean for him and others (my guiess is simply FURY).
Though Theon sitting the Iron Throne seems hard. And the Prince who was Promised must needs sit the Iron Throne?
Another thing is that born amidts smoke and salt - who else can it be? Obviously Dany. But many fans would rather kill themselves than see that. So a loy of people say Jon - but we've got no story on his birth and concrete salt and smoke stuffs. The only other option seems as I suggest, but it has yet to happen.
What do you think?
