Drowsey Dragon
After four books, Howland Reed is still MIA.There have been but a few mentions of him throughout the books, but it is clear to me he is a key player to this tale.We know he was close with Ned and we also know he is the only person alive that knows for certain what happened with the dying Lyanna. He also could quite possibly be the little craggoman from Meeras story.Does anyone know he was with Ned when he found Lyanna? Any chance Jon Snow could get word of him and seek him out?Why did he not answer Robbs 'Call the Banners' Rallying Cry? He is a bannerman of Ned Stark is he not?I know he lives in the swamps and is never in one place for long, but why did he not come? His children are aiding Bran and his son jojen seems to be gifted. He obviously knows what has happened to Ned and the situation in the North, yet he has not emerged. There has not been a peep about him.Anyone else really excited or looking forward to him making an appearance in this series? Will he emerge in Dance? Any chance for a POV from him perhaps? He is too important a character to have such little information about after four books. If he doesnt, we will never know for certain what Lyanna's promise was. Crown
Howland Reed is, most likely, the only person in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire who knows about Jon Snow his true parentage. He was one of Ned's closest friends, and he was with him at the Tower of Joy, so he probably knows what happened to Lyanna. There is a reason GRRM hasn't shown him yet, but keeps mentioning him. Howland is going to play a key-role in the series finale, I'm sure about that.
Ser Malthred Storm
He also has Robb's will. We will definitely see him later on.
Tomer
Howland is, no doubt, the character I am most psyched about meeting. he sounds so awesome and intersting. I can't wait till we meet him.

JayDubya
Oh, this reminds me of the forum topic "What's the worst imaginable thing in Winds of Winter" and it would be:"News from the Freys, Ser Jaime - Howland Reed's been found and killed."DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ernestm
I really want to know his story and what he knows, I can't want to see him in the story, either as a pov or from another cranogmen talking with him.

Silvannister
Howland, Jeyne and Blackfish might just be our only hopes to restoring Robb's power any time soon. :) I just want to get the three of them together so they can bring back the North! :D
Xander Baratheon
Always had the feeling he would appear as soon as Martin was ready to have Jon Snow's parentage play a major part in the story. That goes far beyond restoring Robb's power since we're potentially talking about the Iron throne and Robb does still have successors even if the other characters don't know about Bran and Rickon yet. Shaggy Rickon
Howland, Jeyne and Blackfish might just be our only hopes to restoring Robb's power any time soon. :) I just want to get the three of them together so they can bring back the North! :DDon't forget manderly of white harbor. There is also the wildlings that can be trained and disciplined. All we need is a stark in the north for the north to be a force again.
shazwynn
I'm really stuck on the question of why he hasn't come out yet. We're all wondering why Howland never showed up to help Robb, but it doesn't seem to me like any of the characters in the book wonder about it, or am I wrong? Is it just because he is not well known or something? Also, if Howland has magic powers (as is suggested by Meera's story about the KotLT)/has been trained by the Children of the Forest on the Isle of Faces, is it possible that he is preparing with them some defense against the approaching winter and imminent rise of evil forces like the Others/Wights, or something? Why would he stay in his swamps if he didn't have something more important to do then go out and help the Starks? Or maybe somehow he had been warned not to interfere directly by someone who'd seen the future? I just can't think of any other reasons, he's supposed to be a decent and honourable man isn't he?Martin isn't just keeping him out of the way so he can reveal Jon's parentage at the right moment later on.
