So you think that there should have been some Robb and more Davos, who would you like to have seen less of?

Dany, Barristan, Tyrion and Quentyn were complete overkill in Dance. Keep all of their POVs but reduce the chapters. If you read Dany's first chapter and her last, but nothing in between, the story still makes perfect sense if you read Barristan, Tyrion and Quentyn's chapters.

I really feel like Feast and DWD are the only books whose POV's I'd change at all.  You can tell that GRRM struggled with them there in a way he didn't before.  The most notable issue was the lack of Bran and far too much Dany.

I'm going to try reading the combined "A Feast of Dragons" and see how I feel about that.

I can see how Dany was way too much because she really didn't do much at all, but since the two books are split, into 2 books supposed to be 1 and a half, if you add the two books as one and change the order of chapters do you think it would be better?

We can have POVs from those who know more than what we, as readers should know.  For instance, Ned knows about what is pretty much (in my opinion) the biggest mystery in the books, that being the Tower of Joy and who Jon's real parents are, assuming Ned isn't Jons real father.  I would really like a Loras POV in the future, but I don't think it's gonna happen.  A Tarly POV would be nice also.  We need a Highgarden POV I believe.

Besides Loras, what other Highgarden do you think is possible?

Sometimes I understand completely what GRRM is doing with his POV choices, although it annoys me, but at others I just don't get what he was thinking.

Obviously he is set on a certain pattern and pacing for his books. He only wants so much revealed about a character or their situation in each book so that's why we see so little of Bran and we get cut off from Davos. But seriously? 7 chapters for Bran in AGOT where he lies in bed for 600 pages but only 3 in ADWD when he gets really interesting?!?! It's infuriating, contrast that with 22 combined chapters of Dany and Tyrion where about the same amount happens!

I hope that it will all be for the best in the end. No Varys or LF for me thank you, I like mysteries and secrets as long as we find out eventually.

As for the rest of them, a little more Barristan and JonCon, less Quentyn and absolutely no Victarion, Aeron or Asha please, if it's not too much to ask :wideeyed:

Well, I tend to like all of them, except the father.  A Queen of Thorns could be hit or miss.  I think a Ser Garlan would be good.  He's been in some interesting scenarios.  Loras would be best though, I think.  We could get his feelings on Renly, and also his arrogance would shine through.  Basically, he's a young Jaime.

He is very much a younger Jamie, do you think that is why GRRM doesn't give him a POV because they are, well I should say, were very similar?  And I think that any highgarden POV would be much appreciated, but if we see one I have a feeling the first one will be Marg, what would you say to that?  Would that suffice for you?  Or do you think she is too naive to the highgarden plans?

Not a fan of the Iron Islands, I just wish GRRM had never included them in his universe. At least we have Euron, he's intriguing

I find it annoying how every other Great House in a position of power (Stark, Lannister, Martell, Targaryen, Greyjoy, etc) gets a POV, but the Tyrells the house that has arguably the most power out of the lot of them has none.

Yes, but think about this:-

I think some characters are best viewed through other POV's eyes because it adds a bit of mystique and allure to them.

Given the complicated role of the Tyrell family, isn't it intriguing that we only see them through the eyes of other people, both friends and enemies?

I expect we will only be able to judge why we do / don't have various POVs when (or if??!) the series is finally completed, because only then will all the pieces be in place.  For example, many people find Brienne's AFFC chapters incredibly boring (I don't), but there has to be a good story reason why GRRM has included them, and it's not just because he likes writing enormous heavy books or is getting paid by the word  ;)

At present, it's rather like putting together a giant jigsaw puzzle without a proper reference picture: we are able to put some large chunks together with certain POVs, but we don't quite know how they should be arranged within the bigger picture.  And then we also have all these odd awkward bits with strange POVs or supposedly too many chapters, and we have no idea 'where' they will fit or how important they will be to the overall puzzle.

So you say let Martin show us his magic of fitting things together by not changing any of the POVs?

I think Loras would be perfect.  He absolutely is a young Jaime.   Margaery does seem naive, but we don't know unless we get in her head.  It does seem a little odd that we do not have any Tyrell POVs.  Also, Blackfish would be great.  I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think we will get any Highgarden.

Not at all, he's nearly as bad as Aeron. Did you hear the sample GRRM read from TWOW?

I'd like a spin-off book where Arya, Tyrion and Jamie all get into crazy adventures.
