I think it's ok to contextualize stuff and, more, if we want people to stop doing this stuff, we HAVE to contextualize it. It's not fair to the guys who get carried down and weren't involved, but that's life.
The whole 'everyone's doing it, ___ only got caught' thing has been around for ever. Should Ben Johnson get his gold medal back?
But those are all purely individual, purely statistical achievements. It's different when you're talking about wins and losses in a team sport. To me, this is more akin to stealing signs in baseball, which I don't think anyone thinks would taint a championship, though it would be fun to argue about it.
