I started ACOK &i read the first 25 chapters or so then switched over to POV.  I went Catelyn first bc i find her the most boring & wanted it over with.

That was bad, though bc of the Bran-Theon chapters. Jon is prob a good stand alone to start with.  I'm now reading Theon& Bran together, then I'll read Arya, and finally Tyrion-Sansa-Davos.

See how it goes

I did pretty much that about six months ago.  Except that I followed each POV character even when they appeared in another's POV chapter.  Electronic search capability of my Kindle was very useful.  I read the character's POV chapter and also any appearances or even mentions in other POVs.  In order of course.  I even did a reread for the non-POV character, the Hound, which was a bit of a challenge because he is alternately referred to as Sandor, Clegane, or the Hound and the Kindle doesn't allow for "Sandor OR Clegane OR Hound" searches.  Also hit a lot of Ramsay's "girls" and other dogs mentions.

It was pretty interesting.  It made me realize that Dany's story (for the first three books) is quite good and could have been published as its own novel.  I guess my irritation at her isolation from the other stories biased me against her.  Many of the stories in Westeros come together in King's Landing (especially in ACoK and ASoS) but otherwise, this is like those novels that tell the same story from different points of view.

I have a nook, i like the electronic search idea, that's clever!  I worked for BN for 4 yrs, otherwise I'd have probably gotten a kindle, too. The employee discount made up my mind, though.

I've just started reading by POV.  I started with Ned simply because his POV is probably the first to finish.  I think I've found his story even sadder reading this way than by reading the book in sequence.  I plan on reading Catelyn next but haven't really planned much beyond that.
