"Of course, Iceland is relatively small. Beyond the Wall is considerably larger than Iceland—probably larger than Greenland. And the area closest to my Wall is densely forested, so in that sense it's more like Canada—Hudson's Bay or the Canadian forests just north of Michigan. And then as you get further and further north, it changes. You get into tundra and ice fields and it becomes more of an arctic environment. You have plains on one side and a very high range of mountains on the other. Of course, once again this is fantasy, so my mountains are more like the Himalayas. But, you can always play with these things in fantasy.

And what lies really north in my books—we haven't explored that yet, but we will in the last two books."

So who you guys think will go there jon bran or someone else.....?

Will he she go there as a wight....?

and is the war of winterfell the war of ice or will the war be fouht  north of wall in the ice planes...?

I think it will be Bran who goes there. That is where the Great Other resides. I'd be very curious to see what he is and what his motives are (or at least his reason for wanting mankind dead)

Personally, I think he's a CotF Greenseer who was not happy with the result of the war of the CotF and the First Men.

I guess it would be Bran or Bloodraven since they can go there without actually having to go.

I don't think bran's leaving the tree anytime soon and he can only see the past.

i think others will only take undead there and jon is probably dead so jon the wight.....?

Didn't Bloodraven say something about seeing beyond the trees. In the chapter when Bran wakes up from his fall he kind of does this all ready.

My guess would be Summer and possibly Ghost.  A raven might accompany them, but then it could be too cold for birds, up there in the lands of always winter, to fly.

Benjen might be alive out there somewhere- not being Coldhands. Maybe we get his prologue/epilogue.

what if Bran can warg one of the Others? I just don't thinks its possible for a human to survive there. Some people think that Benjen is all ready there.

that would depend upon can others be warged. Benjen in the land of always winter sounds appealing. and coldhands might have escaped from there...?

i think land of always winter will form a major part of book 6 7 not just a chapter as george says and its twice the size of book 5.

I think Benjen and Bran are the only folks who can go that far north in the winter. We have to remember as Martin just pointed out for us his world in his books is physically different than the one in the TV show.  Dang Budget!!!!

I hope it's Bran because I don't want him to stay in the cave for the rest of the books.

Freaking sissies. I always had respect for men of the nights watch because I thought their lives were pretty darn hard. Now though, their lives were hard because they were living in Canada?! I guess the good news is that in the long run the Starks will be one of the wealthiest families in the world because they'll find out they own all the large deposits of natural resources.

As a side note: As winterfel is further south than the wall (Canada) wouldn't this make their climate much different? Say New York, or middle of the US?
