As I am sure most of you know, the limited editions of A Storm of Swords and A Feast for Crows came with a set of signed book marks and a chap book, respectively. I put my matched set of Meisha Merlin/Sub Press on Ebay, some of you may have noticed in the other thread, but I did not include these two items in that auction. It did not seem to me that these two additional items would increase bidding on the auction.

I am not soliciting bids, but I am wondering if I should have included the bookmarks and the chapbook. I told a person who inquired about them that I would have included them had the auction gone over a certain amount, but that is against Ebay rules.

Any thoughts or recommendations on this?

I added them. Decided to throw caution to the wind.

That seems smart to me - selling the limiteds without the additional material that came with them might not hurt the value as much as breaking up a matching set of books, but I'd think most buyers would expect to get them. I'm storing the signed bookmarks etc on my matching lettered set separately, but if/when they go, they'll all go.

The thing is these items did not come with all of the Storm of Swords or Feast for Crows, only with those which were ordered very early in the pre-order process (as I am sure you are aware). As a consequence, had I chose to be dishonest, I could have simply said I did not receive them when I ordered the books. No one would be the wiser, but that shows a lack of integrity, in my view.

The way I figured it, and I spend much time last night debating what I wanted to do, there are some people out there who truly do want to have the two bonus items, and these people might be willing to pass up a matched set in the hopes of getting a set which comes with them.

A matching set is so rare now that I doubt any would pass one up because it's missing some bookmarks and a chapbook.

Alternatively, I really don't think the bookmarks and chapbook by themselves are worth that much at all.

So unless you want to keep the bookmarks and chapmark for some reason, I would just include them in the set.

I dont think it would have been dishonest, unless you state that the items are included in the auction, noone can complain if they arent sent along with the winning items. I cant say whether it would have pushed the price up, its certainly possible but its still anyones guess.

If Ebay say its against the rules, thats their rule. But what they don't know wont hurt them, and its not as if your tricking the buyer anyhow.
