Just musing on the house that must be in the top tier for least liked, with fewest friends and allies, and a great deal to loose in the coming books: The Freys. I think I might hate them above any house in all the books. Obviously they meant to be as GRRM has not putin one likable Frey, and the one POV character only shows up to be hung by the Drowned Cat.

It occurred to me that when the Great Winter comes, where will their great river fortress stand? Right in an open field of ice is where. At that point it would seem an easy thing to roll up the engines of war and start in from all sides. That this happened before in Westerosi history may only be luck or that previously they were little more than a glorified toll booth. But I don't recall them ever playing some many sides with such bloody and despicable results from the little series history they get.

It is said that at least one major barbarian crossing into the southern Roman empire was facilitated by the Rhine river freezing over in large part. This would be natural weakness for the Twins. Thoughts?

Along those same lines: though the ocean itself can't freeze, harbors and coast lines certainly can. How would the Iron Men travel around and reave with everything around their isles iced up? Or do those with ships pack up for the South for a few years and come back when things thaw out?

I'd hope it'd be in grand fashion.

The news of all the Freys in the north and in Riverrun dead on top of the playing of Rains of Cash....by the messenger Tom o' Seven mayhaps...delivered to the Twins for a starter.

i think they will have a large part in destroying themselves. they are all greedy, seem to dislike each other and all want power but there are so many of them most hold no chance of ever having any sort of power and title....i think when shit blows up in KL the late Walder Frey will die and they will start infighting, the rest will be taken care of by Nymeria, Drowned Cat and some others, maybe even Jon, he did behead Janos Slynt for insubordination but also part retribution for helping have his dad beheaded.

Whatever happens, I hope that the Late Lord Frey is the last to go...it would serve him right to see all his many many heirs gone, knowing the house with die with him. (Though he really doesn't seem to like his heirs very much).

What about Olyvar and perwin?  They were deliberately excluded from the Red Wedding, presumably because they would have objected to it, despite (I think) both being full brothers of Roslin.  Also Alesander, although I never quite understood why he was "away," like the others.  Just because he was a singer?  There must be other non-awful Freys - there are so many of them, they are probably scattered all over, and I'm sure many of them who were not there did not know about the Red Wedding.

Over anything else I'd like to happen in the story, I want Walder Frey to be the last one to go down after seeing the death of all his kin and have House Frey end with him. A man can dream.

Ditto, with the exception of Perwyn and Olyvar Frey

A fitting end i'd be interested to read is Arya adding some basalisk's blood to a Frey feast, causing them to lose it and massacre each other. It's been confirmed it works on humans as well as animals. It seems fitting that they die in their own home by their own bloodied hands.

The powerful and multitudinous Freys die at each other's hands in a fit of madness and savagery with Lord Walder watching. That's cruel; I like it.

Yes, it would be fitting if something like that happened, after he has stated that he was looking for ways to get rid of them, as they pile up :P I am sure Lady Stoneheart and the Brotherhood will see to that.

That would be a fantastic end.

Lord Frey is described several times as looking like a weasel; Ser Cleon also was described as having the face of a weasel, and of course most of the Freys tend to be very weaselly.

Thus I think it would extremely fitting if Agrippina is correct and Arya gives the Freys some weasel soup.

They've already gotten some just desserts with the Frey Pie...

Always thought it was weird that "Freys" sounds like "Frays", like a frayed piece of rope that's coming undone.

Long ships are shallow of draft and can be pulled up onto beaches.  They could be pulled up onto any ice shelf they can't crash through.  Also I don't think we know how cold it really gets in the south, but I doubt the major rivers are freezing over, much less large parts of the coast line.

In reading the books, I always pronounced it like "Fries" in my head, so when they first mentioned them on the show as the "Frays", it threw me a bit!
Alliterating it like frayed rope is  nice, I hadn't thought of that.

And my 2 cents on the Freys is, considering what they did to Grey Wind during the RW, I'd love to see some direwolf revenge.

Arya doing something deadly is expected. But if she strolled into their hall where they eat with Nymeria and her now HUGE pack of wolves shouting For the KING IN THE NORTH!!!! and butchering ALL of them before getting to Old Late Walder Frey and doing a ' Tickler style'  death on him. Something corny like " Im Arya Stark and this is for my brother the king in the north you weasel faced turd!"

Going to take her a while to get back there and collect her pack, but it'd be nice to see, though I think she'd likely say "You weasel faced cunts!" based on the sailor talk she picked up when she was selling oysters and mussels. :)
