I'm not 100% sure most of them aren't book readers. I mean some of the things they figure out...there is no way they got it from the show. Like several of them think Jon is the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna. How on earth could they come to that conclusion from the show? Rhaegar and Lyanna were mentioned once by name in Season 1. Not to meantion several think Robb will be killed by the Freys, Theon will be tortured by Ramsay, and Joffrey sent the dagger to kill Bran. There just ain't no way.

Did you read how they got there? People have been speculating on Jon's parentage since the scene where he and Ned parted; the first theory was Jon being Aerys & Lyanna's kid, followed by Robert & Lyanna, then being Benjen's bastard son, then Robert & Cersei's missing heir, then the product of Ned & Cersei's illicit affair. I remember a lot of them from the BSG discussions - these people know how to watch.

Rhaegar & Lyanna didn't come up until the end of S1, when it was revealed that Rhaegar kidnapping Lyanna was what instigated the rebellion; it's really not that hard to come up with that theory at that point.

I lol'd when I read one post in that thread on page 270 or so where someone says Varys and Stannis are alike because they've made their true intentions known. He/she's probably right about Stannis, but Varys? Even some people who read all 5 books don't know what his true intentions are.

no i just skimmed through some of the pages. but i will definitely agree with that last part. these people are not casual viewers, which is what i was expecting. bravo to them if they figured all this out just from the show.

There's been a recent flurry of posts here, and some interesting new theories on Jon's parentage/future. One of them is predicting Jon will get a dragon already.

Quote from someone after S2E10:

Quote

Re: Sansa, loved her glee at no longer being betrothed to Joffs, but was also creeped out by LF's comments to her. I'm thinking that his comments tie in directly with his comments to the Court about "Now I need to get some sons and grandsons..." I think he could be angling for a marriage to Sansa to tie himself to Cat forever in some incredibly sick and twisted way. It would be right up LF's alley to do something that gross. Poor Sansa, Lady of Hellenholehal isn't something she'd want and I think if it goes that direction, she'll almost wish she stayed in KL, at least it's pretty there.
I didn't even think of that but so creepy and it's possible that in S3 he'll show hints of intending/wanting to or trying to marry her.

Quote

But it does convince me that she is on the train to dead/crazytown because if she is already making decisions this irrational how on earth will she deal when she hears about the deaths of Bran and Rickon? If Robb died too I do think it would kill her.
Heh...

They're doing some predictions for next season.

Quote

Jaime - Probably wishes he were dead, rather than on a cross country journey of discovery with Brienne. Not sure what they expect to happen here. Brienne arrives at KL with Jaime in a bag. Dumps him on the palace steps, picks up Sansa and heads back the way she came. Catelyn is a silly bint. You can see where SeasonOneSansa got it from. Robb must be thinking 'My parents are idiots'. I think once the Lannister Lackey had reported that Jaime was alive and (relatively) well, they should have cut off a arm or something and kept him. The way to break Jaime is through his ego. I think he survives long enough to bang his sister one last time before being sent to the Wall by Joffers to assassinate Jon. But before he can, he dies of boredom.

Most of this guy's are way off, but there are some fairly accurate ones:

Quote

Brienne - I want to like Brienne, but she is largely responsible for the Worst Scene Ever, in her pledge of loyalty to Catelynn, after knowing her for all of 15 minutes. I was hiding behind the couch at the acting and plausibility of that little cringefest. That, and the lifts they put in her boots are making her walk like a pigeon. So naturally she will survive, making a series of treks across Westeros out of some bizarre sense of loyalty to the soon to be dead Cat Stark. She does need a Sidekick though. I offer up Gendry and/or Hot Pie, if he doesn't soon become Cold Pie.

Yeah, he survives I think. Recurring theme so far is that those we really want to see die tend to stick around for a while.

You know what Unsullied reaction I'm really looking forward to (besides the RW)? The realization that Barristan Selmy, Beric Dondarrion, and Alliser Thorne have not, in fact, been forgotten, and have important roles yet to play in the story. They've been snarkly tracking all the named characters that have 'gone missing', and I think it's going to blow them away to realize just how much care goes into the continuity.

Except that it's quite possible that Alliser Thorne has just been written out and will not be returning. Wouldn't surprise me if a different character is used to fulfil his role in season 5.

For some reason I don't really want Theon to die that much. I more feel sorry for him than anything. If he does die I'd atleast like him to get some redemption before biting it.
That's cute.

Hehehe, you are not alone ! I've been really laughing when they were complaining at the MIA of Barristan and Beric ! Wait for it guys, wait for it ! =D

Although I agree, maybe Alisser Thorne will be left out of the show.

And Thoros! He's only been mentioned by name (in S1 no less!), but I remember quite a bit of discussion on his flaming sword. I can't wait to see their reaction to the first time the BWB recites, "The night is dark and full of terrors." I hope it's at least as fun as this one.

I hope not; the actor was really outstanding. He took a very brief, mostly one-dimensional part and added so much to it.

That said, while I suppose Janos Slynt can take over a lot of the politics at the Wall, Thorne really seems too important to completely let go of.

Robb Stark has done reasonably well by adhering to a Starkian sort of honor, but doing things his own way and the entire "marry for alliances" thing led to pairings like poor Sansa betrothed to Joffrey. So his marrying the Nurse and acting of his own free will was good to see. He is the oddest character though, because he walks around with a seemingly permanent "Don't feel like you know me all that well? I just give a vague sense of a barely congealed sort of essence? Think you like me? I'm totally gonna die!" feeling about him. Then he doesn't die and doesn't die some more. Glad he made it out of the season.

Hilariously true. Even non-readers notice the difference between Robb and his siblings who have pov status in the books. He should have been fleshed out with more personality in the show when the showrunners decided to follow him as a major character through S2. And the poster's remark about Sansa's splendid arranged marriage giving Robb a reason to marry of his own will could have made for a decent line of reasoning from Robb to soften the blow of his foolish marriage. Better than the maddening implication that he decided to marry Talisa partly in defiance to his mother's release of Jaime, certainly.

I hope in S3 they give the audience an deeper look into Robb's character and motivations, in a way that also makes him more likeable and less idiotic, and that the focus will be placed on his plan to win back the north, so that the RW will be more shocking and tragic. Those who have have been calling Robb's demise from the end of S1 still won't be surprised at his fate, but hopefully those who lost interest in his character after his s2 storyline will feel the impact more.

Haha, right now they're discussing if Dorne will declare independence or stay in the realm, and all we''ve got about Dorne in the show is Myrcella sent there and some offhand remarks. I just love their passion and their way of digging as deep as possible even into the (at this point) smallest details :)

Checking back in here--I've been away since the end of S2.  Soooo good to be back and speculating, anticipating, S3.  Part of the enjoyment of the series has been, for me, anyway, the Unsullied thread at TWOP.  Like this entry.  Clever, smart and smart-ass TV watchers over there.  Can't wait, let S3 BEGIN!!

Quote

..... does ask about Ser Barristan Selmy, who most emphatically did NOT run away! He walked... like a boss!

Quote

He certainly did. I think he's now with Benjen Stark, Alastair Thorn and Beric Dondarrion at an inn somewhere between the Wall and King's Landing, called something like The Missing Characters Retreat. They sit around drinking and wondering if they will ever be called up to do any scenes in Season 3. Their waiter looks remarkably like Syrio Forel...

I don't know how viewers who are so obsessed just wait for the next season and not read the books...when I get into an awesome show or movie trilogy based on a novel/s, I can't wait and HAVE to read the books immediately...
