Sounders victory over LA last night in MLS, quite a good match for Seattle although I understand LA was missing both Beckham and Keane.
West Ham and Celtic matches this afternoon, let's go lads.

And may I send my best wishes to the poor American bloke, Bill Miller, who is taking over Rangers FC. It was infuriating to hear their fans chant 'USA!' yesterday, but alas, their supporters were redeemed, when two banners were spotted decrying the American as an 'asset stripper'. Surely insane, they forgot that they are currently undergoing a world-class example of asset stripping, not from an American, but from a lovely man from Motherwell.

Of course from what I gather this is far from a done deal, some nontrivial obstacles still standing in Miller's way. Personally I think any such sale ought to include a provision that Miller must pursue any and all reasonable measures to stop Rangers fans sending any more mail bombs

Play each other home and away, if there is no overall result it goes to Extra time then Pens. The winners of each leg go through to play each other in a final game at Wembley.

I don't like Rangers. Never have. But I must say that comments this ignorant and blinkered are unacceptable about any team. The idea that Rangers, as a club, bore any responsibility for this incident, or that there was anything Rangers could have done but failed to do to prevent it, is just utterly unrelated to the facts and demonstrates nothing but uninformed prejudice.

There's nothing Miller can do about the fans, per se, but the club has always allowed animosity towards the likes of Lennon, McCourt, McGinn, etc. to foster.

In Germany it's between Huntelaar ( 27)and Gomez ( 26), one more game to play.
In England it's between van Persie ( 28) and Rooney ( 26), two games to play
In Italy Zlatan looks like he will win ( 26), but Cavani has 23. Two games to play.
In Spain Messi now leads with 46 goals, but Ronaldo follows with 44 goals. Falcao is a distant third with 23 goals. Two more games to play, and Madrid will do all they can to get Ronaldo to overtake Messi.

For us it's also the main question that keeps people busy in the run-up to the EC, who will we play, Huntelaar or van Persie.

Messi just broke Gerd Müller's record for number of goals scored in competitive games in a single season, too (68 to Müller's 67 in 72/73). Of course Müller needed less games for his tally.

If Klose is fit he'll be the first choice striker, and unless he plays abysmally he'll remain as such for the tournament. Gomez simply doesn't offer as much to the overall game as Klose does. I'm hoping another striker in his mold establishes himself before he finally gets too old for this shit.
Of course Klose will also probably overtake Gerd Müller in total international goals soon (5 to go to draw level), but as Messi he'll have needed more games for it. He has almost twice as many caps already.

You know, I grew up in West Central Scotland in the 1980s, when things were ten time worse than they are now. Less than fifteen miles from Glasgow, in a town where the Orange Walk every 12th of July was a highlight, and in a street that had a Catholic school and a Proddy one right over the fence from each other. I had to run from 'fans' of both sides more than once - when I could run (nothing worse than being trapped on the wrong train after an Old Firm game). I still live in Scotland and have a healthy interest in football and in current affairs.
In other words I do have more than a passing familiarity with the OId Firm and what both sides of it have, and have not, done to counter sectarian bigotry.
So could you explain what Rangers have done or not done to 'allow animosity' to Lennon? Specifically? And how this contrasts with the approach Celtic have taken with McCoist, etc.?
Don't bother: you can't. Anything you say here will be fantasy conspiracy theory nonsense and a waste of bandwidth. Keep it for the Green Brigade message boards, they love that stuff. This thread, though, is about football. Let's keep it to that, shall we?

That's exactly right, we should definitely compare the two, because after all, both sides have tried to literally kill the other by mailing them viable explosive devices, and
Wait, well, still, because you see, Neil Lennon
In related news, both West Ham and Celtic up 1-0. Let's keep it up everyone

Granted; I've been following everything but the MLS and Holland this year...
but why? You guys don't like one guy's hair?
I need to know these things before I walk to Stanford in a few weeks to watch my first ever MLS match against the Galaxy and accidentally have the time of my life.
And that's all you need to know about him. He's a bad guy. And San Jose's success annoys me all the more bc he's been a part of it. He's so bad that San Jose's shirt sponsors dropped them in disgrace shortly after he joined and his former team Columbus finally got a new sponsor once he left. Coincidence? I think not.

And I'm pretty sure this is on topic, anyway, considering it's a huge problem in the game. Countless books have been written on the issue.
