Who knows, he might even be a better politician than Ned...

Stannis! Stannis! Stannis!
A truly just man, or at least he would be if it weren't for the burning people thing. Still at least he continually agonized over Edric Storm and did not in the end cross the line (although Davos saving him from making that decision still leaves some ambiguity), so he's probably still the most righteous serious candidate.

Whoever gets the Iron Throne — if anyone gets it; I think it's going to be destroyed — I doubt it's someone too predictable.

I want to see Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, First of her Name, Queen of Slaver's Bay, the Andals, the Rhoynar and of the First Men to retake the throne. I used to believe she deserved this because it was her birthright that was stolen from her but after posting on the board for a while I realize that's not what the Game is about. Birthright doesn't matter. What matters is might = right. Well guess what? There is no might quite like DRAGONS. No army in the world will be able to withstand the devastation of dragonfire. Fire made flesh!
I want to see Jon leave the Night's Watch and become King of Winter. After what his "brothers" did to him, he no longer has any obligation to them. They are his enemies and should look at them as such from now on. Find out you're a Targaryen, forsake your claim to the throne like Aemon did, become legitimized as Jon Stark, become Azor Ahai, save the world and then go back to Winterfell and restore the North.
I want to see Tyrion either become Lord of Casterly Rock or the Hand of the Queen.
Of course, none of these things will probably happen. I'm pretty sure at least one of these three characters are going to die and do so horribly. It would be nice if it turned out this way but GRRM doesn't really do "nice" and neat so I'll probably be crying and screaming in some capacity while reading the last books. Can't wait! lol

(I mean, how many thousands of years have they been stuck in the middle ages?)
With no autocratic Iron Throne to contend for, the game of thrones comes to an end, or becomes channelled into less destructive political processes. Like corruption and backstabbing in the House of Commons, that sort of thing.

But I really don't want there to be an Iron Throne with seven united kingdoms in the end
