Ya know the scene when Cersei walks in on Joffrey in the Throne Room while he's restoring it back to the way it looked when the Targaryens ruled the Seven Kingdoms? Remember when she slapped him and he threatened her? Well, I think that now, she's secretly afraid of him. That plus him ordering Ned Stark executed makes me think that he thinks that a king doesn't have to listen to what anybody says. Even though he's still just a teenager, I'm beginning to believe that Cersei is starting to fear her own son.
What do you think?
Cersei and Joffrey...

Idk if she is afraid of him. Joff is likely all talk when his family is concerned. As we know, Tyrion is not afraid of hitting or publicly embarrassing or scolding him.
The thing I think Tyrion and Cersei have in common in regards to Joff is that they are afraid he is going to do something stupid again like chopping Ned's head off. He doesn't listen when he doesn't want to and has proven a very cruel and idiotic king that the people despise. I think this is what they are afraid of.

Now that I think about it, you might be right. Perhaps Cersei's just afraid that Joff will think he's THE most powerful person in the Seven Kingdoms, and that he might one day become too powerful.

I always saw it as Cersei seeing Joff the way that worried her husband Robert. Robert confided in Ned his fears about what the young boy was really going to be like (believing he could be changed through being a ward to someone).

Good point. Now that I think about it, I feel like when Ned discovered the truth that Joffrey is the product of incest, we were introduced to the possibility that the madness was a strong possibility. Not just from the Lannister influence, I mean like what happened with the Targaryens, who have historically married brother to sister. Aerys Targaryen (the Mad King) got his nickname from somewhere, later Viserys started to go madk... However, there is only a 50% chance. As far as we know, Daenerys is still sane, kind, and pure of heart.
Also, with the war going on, the Lannisters view all non-supporters as the enemy, which means basically the whole of the Seven Kingdoms.

I do not think she is afraid persay but as others have pointed out I believe she is starting to be afraid of what he could do with his power as king.

Actually, that's kind of what I was trying to say. I remember reading once that Robert married Cersei so that he would have the financial connection he needed. But with Joffrey now on the Iron Throne, the Lannisters have complete control over royal finances, not to mention the Seven Kingdoms (well, except for the north).
