The Umbers may be one of many though. I just see them as guaranteed because of what happened to Crowfood's daughter and the fact that wildlings raid their lands.

I think eventually the Northmen and wildlings can be more accepting of each other and be on better terms but it will take some time.

Out of curiosity would Robb request that Jon marry Jeyne in his will? Ned married Cat because she was betrothed to Brandon. I'm just wondering if it would apply to a widow ecspecially if she had Robbs child.

I think Sarella Sand is kind of a dark horse, no pun intended, if she accompanies Sam back to the Wall.

He might have to marry an Other to make peace with them.

If Jon becomes King material by the 7th book and is unmarried and refuses to leave the Wall, woman from all over the realm might try to make the trek to the wall to win his hand in marriage and be his Queen. That would actually be very funny.

Just as long as he doesn't end up with Satin, I'm okay with it. Not that there is anything wrong with it but it would be very untraditional.

I don't see Jon ever becoming the Lord of Winterfell but if he ever were to he should marry someone from one of the Northern houses imo. I think Val may cause unnecessary conflict. For instance she is a wildling and is associated with Mance. At the very least I see the Umbers having a problem.

I definitely think the north is going to have to ally with the Wildlings whether they like it or not. and Jon's the best link between the North/House Stark and the Wildlings. It may not be ideal, but nothing at this point is.

That being said, I'd also love for Sansa to have Winterfell. but I just think a Wildling becoming Lady of Winterfell, and a bastard (or whatever he is) constantly told he can't have Winterfell becoming Lord of Winterfell would be pretty cool.

I agree that IF Jon becomes Lord of Winterfell, he will have to marry one of the Northern lords' daughters to secure their loyalty

Untraditional is good, makes those books better than the others :).

But I agree it is not likely. After Ygritte, it is kind of clear he is into girls.

That is as random as any other Southern girl on the list. Asha is going back to the Isles soon, I think.

Well, it depends on what identity Jon will have by the end of the novels, I think.

If he stays Lord Snow, Lord Commander, then he is Nights Watch and will remain that way.

If he is acknowledged as Rhaegar's son and Dany is dead, then he would have to make a political alliance marriage, which means Arianne, Margaery, Asha, Myrcella or maybe even Shireen (poor little Shireen). It will depend on what house/houses supported his claim to the throne, I suppose.
(But if Dany lives, she would make the best political match for him to strengthen the legitimacy of Targaryen rule and in order not to favour any particular great house over another.)

I definitely see them working together and possibly some of the wildlings integrating into the North like the Thenns for example. I just think it's another thing to accept one as the Lady of Winterfell. At least at this stage. Somewhere down the line maybe they will be ready.

Anyways, I see Rickon being the Lord with either Wylla Manderly or Lyanna Mormont as the new Lyanna Stark of Winterfell. Stannis may try get Shireen for him though.

I don't think the thought would have crossed Robb's mind. He seemed pretty sure Jeyne wasn't pregnant. if Jon and Jeyne did marry, I think it would be more along the lines of Jon taking it upon himself to do his duty as Robb's brother or something. I think it would mean more if it happened that way too.

:agree:  after Val, I'm absolutely set on Meera and Jon. I think they'd be great together. Plus if we can't have a Stark/Wildling marriage, a first men/COTF descendant marriage would be pretty sweet. perhaps they could even have a greenseer or two.

If Jon does somehow become Lord of Winterfell, I think marrying Val could be a good political move to further secure the newly forged bond between "kneelers" and the free folk.  Hopefully the Northerners would be content having a son of a Stark being Lord of Winterfell, especially if Jon saves the realm from the Others and helps win back the North from the Bolton/Frey/Lannister alliance.

What about this for a crackpot.... If Jon turns out to be the son of R+L then he is not a brother to Arya but a cousin. Maybe when Arya and Jon are eventually reunited she will be grown up and as beautiful as Lyanna was (she was often compared to her). It is not unusual in Westeros for cousins to marry it is quiet common, even brothers and sisters are at!! There would definitely be no dispute about there being a true Stark in Winterfell.........

Personally I don't think Jon will become Lord of Winterfell, the other kids are alive except Robb and Robb might or might not have an heir. Marriage only becomes an issue if Dany becomes Queen and she admits she can not have a child and that Jon is the son of Rhaegar and Aegon is not. Then it would be his duty to marry and produce heirs for the good of the realm.

No one really has an answer on the Jeyne Westerling question. In some societies it was a brothers duty to marry his brothers widow if he was unmarried. I think marrying her to Harrion Karstark might be the best solution and help make peace between the Starks and the Karstarks.
I actually do think that Sarella is a real possibility if her arc takes her to the Wall.

It would break Brans heart.

BOOO!!!

@ Bride of Winter.

I like Val but I still like her as marriage bait to get help from the Southern Lords. Her and Jon getting together seems to predictable.

Maybe or maybe not, there are varios theories that Jeyne Jamie met was an imposter. I hope you are right but fear you are not.

Robb does have an heir. He named Jon his heir in his will. Officially tough without Robb naming Jon, Bran is next in line, then Rickon. Jon would never have gotten a look in.
