Seriously I can not imagine my childhood with out him. Both Where the Wild Things are, and his version of the Nutcracker played huge roles in how I imagine adventure. Rest in peace, you wonderful curmudgeon.

RIP. For as long as I can remember there's been a print of Where the Wild Things Are hanging on my wall. I plan for it to hang there throughout my own future children's childhoods as well.

I listened to a series of past interviews he did with Terry Gross from NPR today, running to mark his passing. What a strange and wonderful man.

Grew up reading his books, RIP Mr Sendak. you will be missed!
