From the Most Horrible People In Westoros thread, on the latest count:

View PostStannisandDaeny, on 24 May 2012 - 03:47 AM, said:

League update! Less votes to count this time around, so not many changes.

1. Ramsay Snow 78
2. Gregor Clegane 42
3. Littlefinger 27
4. Tywin Lannister 16
5. Qyburn 12
6. Cersei Lannister 10
7. Walder Frey 9, Roose Bolton 9
8. Craster 8
9. Joffrey Lannister 6
10. Sansa Stark 5 Varys 5, Vargo Hoat 5

The point of this game is to pick one person from the list and write a spirited defence of him/her. If your defence changes someone's opinion of a character, you score a point. I'll keep score. No swearing and no personal comments,

And go.

I am reading that right? Sansa Stark is on a list for the most horrible person in Westeros? With 5 votes? And Joffrey only has 6? WTF.

She didn't actually have five votes, the list is misleading. I read over the entire thread, and it seems she has three votes with two of the three most likely being jokes.

I only picked the top ten-Aemon is right behind her and she outranks Vargo Hoat.

Time for you, Rapsie and the other Sansisters to start typing. :P

Well, technically speaking, she shouldn't be in the top 10, because Craster and Joffrey should be #9 and #10, but yeah, it's still ridiculous.

Now, now brashcandy no need to say WinTerFell.  Winter´s Knight said, "No swearing".  And Winter´s Knight, wasn´t the thread´s name, most hated?  So I´d say in Snasa´s case it´s jealousy.

ETA:  It´s actually horrible! :dunce:

She was pretty mean to Tyrion at their shotgun marriage so....you know.

That's much more horrible than anything Biter, Sandor Clegane, Viserys, Rorge, Theon, Balon, Victarion, Euron, Aeron, Daario, the Shavepate, Darkstar, Bronn or Shagga have done.

If he put aemon in his list then its a troll, and thus his votes should not be counted.

Well, if that is the case, there are no serious for votes her in that thread, as far as I can see. But to be fair, I think his list was serious.

Well he also had Lysa Tully and Selyse Baratheon in there, and those do make some sense...

If I have pick one I guess Gregor, whom I hate, but he is what he is.  He is like a mean fighting dog.  He has the ability to be awful, and now he is given permission to be awful.  Can't blame the dog for what the dog is.

Roose Bolton is not as bad as people make him out to be. He weighed up the pros and cons of his betrayal, and only made his move after Robb had botched all chances of victory.

Roose quite loyally joined his liege lord in trouncing Lannister ass for a good two books, until his (fourteen-year-old) boss turned out to be a complete fucking idiot and did the following: lost a large bulk of his most essential allies by breaking a marriage pact, wasted the prospect of a "kingly marriage" because he wasn't smart enough to wed this girl he'd deflowered to one of his bannermen instead, alienated the rest of them by offing Karstark for treason, continually made blunder after blunder, naively presumed that killing Prince Theon would be a good idea (after sending him to treat with his father, a proven disloyal rebel), "forgot" to inform his fellow military leaders of key moves and plans (see: Edmure's crushing failure), and remained in open rebellion against the post-Blackwater Iron Throne. Which was ascendant, by that point -- the Tyrells and the Martells had pledged themselves to Joff's rule. The north didn't stand a chance as an independent kingdom after that; Robb's continued rebellion was an abysmal lost cause, and Roose ending his parade of follies was fully justified. Sure, it was a dick move to do what he did, and straight up treason... but I still don't blame him.

I... actually don't hate Robb, regardless. Roose was quite right to turn on him though, ending the war in a swift stroke and reaping the benefits of being the only sane man north of the Twins.

Stay tuned for Ramsay Bolton white knighting. :cool4:

Since I'm a medical person I'll pick...

Qyburn

-everything he does, he does for the advancement of science and medicine
-his experiments could lead to breakthroughs that will save countless lives in the future
-Ser Robert Strong seems to be proof that he has been successful
-next time someone is injured with that Dornish poison, Qyburn will know just the antidote

*(I am in no way seriously defending him, so please don't accuse me of advocating torture and who knows what else he does to those poor souls.)

I think you could actually argue the same thing about Petyr Baelish and his betrayal of Ned. When it comes down to it, he urged Ned to support Joffrey's claim and not to piss off the Lannisters, but he refused to do it (not that I blame Ned for this). Littlefinger looked at the pros and cons, and bet on the horse with the mountains of money and competent schemers like Cersei, Tyrion and Tywin rather than the one that was isolated, far from home, and showed little talent for politics. Not to mention, under King Stannis, Petyr probably would have been out of a job.

But the man has done loads of other nasty things, so I'm sure this isn't the biggest or only factor in deeming him the most horrible person in Westeros. Though it can be said that Petyr Baelish hardly ever directly kills someone. He manipulates other people into doing the dirty work for him. But he doesn't put them under a spell or anything.... in the end, people have free will and make the decision to go along with his schemes/accept his bribes or not. So how far can you really blame him for actions directly carried out by people like Lysa Arryn or Catelyn Stark under his influence? Just playing Devil's advocate here. :)
