To continue...

It's probably best that the Lakers and Heat can't meet for the Finals because with Artest, Pittman & Haslem on the court it would have gotten ugly.

And in sad news, in an awesome display of complete overreaction, OKC officials are shutting down the Thunder Alley watch party for the Spurs series all because two dumbfucks couldn't keep it in their pants.

Well Indiana, you had a shot and whiffed a bit   Went into half time of game 4 ahead by 8 and got outscored in 2 1/2 games since then by 60.

Now we get to see if the Celtics can actually play together or if Philly will pull the upset in Boston.

I'm expecting Boston to pull this one out. The Celtics just need to get their heads straight and they'll win IMO. Given all the experience on their team they should know how to motivate themselves properly by now.

On to Miami!  Not surprisingly, Rondo comes up with a big game.  With Bradley out, I do think that Miami will take this series just because Boston doesn't have anyone to slow down the ball.  It's not a walk over though, considering the way Boston was able to play them during the season.  Heat in 6.  I hope I'm wrong with the team, but....

Yeah, while I would love to see Boston take Miami out, I don't see it.  But I think it sets up pretty well for Miami to lose in the finals again, especially if Bosh can't go.

I am for the Spurs all the way at this point.

As a Blazer fan, it will be too painful to see OKC winning titles w/ Durant already.

First final game tonight, I am looking forward to it. Clinical efficiency from the well-oiled machine that is the San Antonio Spurs versus the exuberant youth and standout players from OKC.

wow....SA showed a lot last night.  Older, slower team...and comes back from 9 down to take the first game.  This is the type of series that could end in a sweep, but will look like both teams just went back to back 7 game series after it is over.

Yes they did.  The only time a team should miss 10 FT is when they take 100.  Missing half?  Allen 3-7?  That might not have changed the game, but it certainly didn't help..

There is talk to sit Allen for the next game just to give him time to recover a little.  Unfortunately the next best option for them is Jeff Green still recovering from heart surgery.

It's easy to see one dominating performance in the playoffs and assume it's over, and this is another of those times.  Theoretically, the Celtics could absolutely still win, if they can make it more of a grind it out affair and can play better defense at the end.  But the problem is that they look exactly what they are:  old and slow.  Pierce used to be a great matchup with James, but those days are over.  And with Ray Allen hobbled, there's nobody who is a good match for Wade either.  Rondo's gambling defense gave up several easy baskets, and Garnett isn't rotating quickly enough.
On the other end of the floor, Garnett and Rondo do indeed still create some matchup problems, but the Heat are much more than a two man show on defense.  Battier and Anthony are both very solid defensively, and their team length and speed caused a lot of problems.  Without a true Center to attack with, I don't think the Celtics are good enough to consistently break down Miami's defense, which means the only real hope is Rondo just going off, constantly driving and dishing, and that seems unlikely to be enough.

especially on defense. the amount of times lebron or wade split three or four guys and got to the rim....

tough road ahead for them, but then, they got taken to 7 by philly

Hey, have you guys heard about about this team from Texas...the "spurs" or something?  apparently they're pretty good.

That series isn't over, but it definitely looks like the Spurs have one target in mind and that is to do Moses Malone' one better from his "Fo, Fo, Fo" prediction and go "Fo, fo, fo fo".  With the way they are playing it wouldn't be a bad bet to take.

I thought this might be a war after game one, but the Spurs really weren't challenged a whole lot through the night.  Funny thing is, looking at the Spurs starting line up brings back a line from Major League - "Who are the fucking guys?"  Diaw/Green/Leonard are starting...one from the Charlotte bench, one from the Spurs bench and a rookie.  Duncan and Parker have taken "making the players around you better" to a whole new level.

On top of that...you tell me Duncan goes 2-11 and I'm thinking the Spurs got creamed...not put up 120 and had the game in hand.

Charlotte loses one more time....New Orleans comes up with the top pick in the lottery.  It's now, what, 6 worst records that have won the lottery in the time this format has been used?

And queue conspiracy theories...  As the New Orleans Sterns now have an attractive commodity in their effor to sell the franchise.

On the bright side, at least they got the pick with their own bad record and not the pick they got from the T-wolves in the bizarre Chris Paul trade.

Now I need to keep my fingers crossed for poor Michael Kidd-Gilchrist that he can go to the less bad Wizards at number three instead of the historically bad Bobcats at two.  I'd love to see MKG and John Wall in the open floor together.

ETA:  Ah... nevermind, just saw that the Hornets already have a new owner in place.  Either way, it is just a bizarre end to a strange season for that team.

but that is kinda the point. to discourage tanking. how many times has a team outside the bottom 6 landed the top pick? 3? last year's clipper pick that ended up going to worse cleveland anyways and the orlando pick are the only ones i can think of.  in general the worst 5 teams get the top 5 picks. it's just the order that switches.

which is good, otherwise you'd see more things like the spurs sitting robinson to get duncan, and this year's bobcats creating the worst team possible

man, two is the spot i would want to draft this year. wouldn't wantto catch the flak for not taking davis, but mkg is the guy i want to draft

And shockingly the team currently owned by the NBA wins the lottery.  Of course the owner who is buying the team also happened to be in attendance (even though he doesn't own it yet).  What an amazing coincidence!

So, good on the Celtics for making it a game, and good on the Heat for winning.  And I REALLY (© Rockroi) hate the in-the-clutch themed criticism that Lebron gets... but if you're Lebron, what is your excuse for not taking it to the hole if you're matched up on Rondo?

While I think it is fair that people get on Lebron for not finishing out games, I don't think it's fair that people say he hasn't proven himself til he hits the last second shot to win it.  I'd rather see his team going into a 4th quarter in a ballbreaking game and take over the game to make a last second shot unneeded.  being able to hit the clutch shot is one hallmark of a great player, but I think - to some extent - a lot of people are nitpicking some when they comment on him that way.  I think it is a fair criticism, but being played more to the "push Jordan to the left, you never see him dunk over people with his left hand".  yeah...that's a huge weakness...

I expect the Celtics to split the home stand and be put out of their misery upon returning to Miami. They proved last night that they can't finish against the Heat. The conditions were as good as can be to steal a game, Rondo gave a Herculean effort, playing the entire game, including OT, and the Celts were ahead in the final few minutes and they just couldn't get it done.

I think the Spurs will win the series, but I think there is a good chance that OKC evens the series at home.
