After all the smoke clears from the oncoming battles to be waged in Westeros who do you believe will be King?

There are no references to quote as only GRRM knows himself who will be left to rule so this thread will be all speculation but I think it would be fun to do.

In my opinion I totally feel that the one person left to sit on the Iron Throne will be someone who never even held a sword, donned any armor or even got close to any battlefield.

He does not have any legit claim to sit the throne but that will not stop him.  Clever and ambitious and really very intelligent.  That's right, I believe the King at the end of it all will be none other than Petyr Baelish!!!

That's right.  Littlefinger!  Again, this is based on nothing other than a hunch...what do you guys think?

I think Dany or Aegon will sit on the throne in the end, or maybe Tommen

I don't think there will even be an Iron Throne in the end, or at least the person who sits on it won't be anywhere close to being the ruler of Westeros.

As for our friend Littlefinger, I think his schemes are going to unravel sooner or later.  He's a smart man, yet he hasn't seemed to of accounted for the coming war with the Others.  This can be due to one of several possibilities.

1. While very apt at manipulating people, he just doesn't take the supernatural seriously, regardless of what the Night's Watch claims.

2. As a far more crackpot theory, Littlefinger is actually in league with the Others.  The chaos he is causing in Westeros is specifically intended to pave the way for the Others invasion.

While option 2 is probably kind of out there, I do believe an existing character is connected to the Others in some manner.  Probably Qyburn, but it's impossible to be sure at this point.

It's damn hard to annihilate an entire race, the throne will or may be gone but some people and houses  will live, a few of Ned and Cat's children and others from the North, at this time maybe a Lannister and Martell not sure who else.

GRRM said bitter sweet, total lost of life is just plain bitter.

The only way for Westeros to avoid what has already happened a dozen times before because of that damned Iron Throne is DEMOCRACY.
They'll have to melt down the throne and make seven individual crowns, so they can build a fair, equal council involving the leader of each kingdom.

Well, he said unexpected, so I have a good idea on who it is. Couple of hints

1. He suffered plenty of hardship throughout the series and I dare say he is the most tragic character.

2. He is of a small house that wants to preserve themselves knowing that all big houses are ready to snap their jaws at them.

3. He is a Stark.

You know who is it, or do you?

I believe it apt to suspect no one. The throne will be destroyed, and all the "Kings" along with it.

If there is an Iron throne I hope its Stannis who sits it in the end.  He is the only King I mean to bend my knee to.

Dolorous Edd. Because that thrones cuts people that sit on it, and the Gods(all of them) hate him enough to want him to sit for a long time.

How many ways can this question be asked? Who will be king? Who should be king? Who are the candidates for king?

My answer is to who will be king: Dany or some phantom person called Hodor.

Who should be King: Stannis

Who are the current candidates: Dany, Aegon/Griff, Tommen + Cersei (current occupants), Stannis
