What movies do you think will be exceptionally good, and those which will be terribly bad.

GOOD
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Prometheus
The Great Gatsby
Cloud Atlas
Skyfall
Django Unchained
The Dark Knight Rises
Brave
The Bourne Legacy
Gangster Squad

BAD
Men in Black III
The Amazing Spider-Man
Snow White and the Huntsman

Out of the ones I've seen so far, the best is The Raid followed by The Avengers.

Out of the ones coming:

Gangster Squad, Lawless, Django Unchained, Skyfall, Only God Forgives and Gravity are the ones I'm really looking forward to. Bourne looks decent too.

Brave, TDKR, The Hobbit and Prometheus I want to look forward to but things about the promo material or who's making them are making me nervous. Brave in particular looks dull and unimaginative.

Spider-Man and Snow White and the Huntsman are films I was unsure about but am quite looking forward to after trailers.

The Raid was fantastic.  The Avengers was really good.

The Hobbit looks good but rumors about 48 fps filming and hypersharp 3d make me nervous.  TDKR seems like it will be a let down after TDK.  I think Brave is going to suck as the Disneyfication of Pixar becomes complete.  No other movie this year has me really excited.

I'm a little concerned about the Hobbit but I'm not giving up hope yet. And I really don't have a whole lot of interest in Brave, but I just hope it can possibly redeem Pixar after Cars 2

Chimpanzee was awesome.  Best movie I've seen in a long time.

So far:

1. The Grey. I don't know why, but this movie really resonated with me.
2. The Avengers. Why? Do you have to ask?
3. The Cabin in the Woods. It was like seeing an episode of Angel or Buffy on the big screen. Probably the funniest movie I've seen in a while.

Worst so far.
The Dictator. Ughh. I made it thirty minutes. It was okay but... I don't know. It just didn't appeal to me.

I'm really looking forward to Prometheus, Django Unchained, The Dark Knight Rises, the hobbit (sort of), and Much Ado About Nothing. (I'm a Whedon fanboy. Obviously. And Much Ado About Nothing is my favorite Shakespeare play.)

The Avengers is the only 2012 movie I've seen so far this year and it was GOOOOODDDDD!!!

I'm actually looking forward to MIIIB, mainly because I like time travel. I don't think it will be great but I think it might be fun.

Looking forward to DKR and Skyfall. I don't know I keep seeing the trailer for Prometheus and all I want to do is yawn, I usually like those types of movies but I'm not feeling it for this one.

I'm really looking forward to The Hobbit, I hope it's not a disappointment.

Also have no interest in seeing Brave, another animated movie set in a medievel fantasy time with an unlikely modern day hero, feels like I've seen it too many times all ready.

I still have not seen Bourne Ultimatum and Bourne Suprmacy even though I really liked Bourne Identity.

Can't believe I forgot this.  I loved this movie.

MiB 3 is actually getting some good reviews. Roger Ebert gave it 3 stars and Rotten Tomatoes has it at 67%. I'm surprised because the trailers made it look horrible. I was also shocked to read that it's actually Josh Brolin doing a Tommy Lee Jones impersonation rather than Tommy Lee's voice being dubbed. Sounds JUST like him. I have my daughter all weekend so I might take her to go see it.

BAD

The Hobbit; Eh After I read LOTR I stopped liking the hobbit, and then I read Asoiaf so i stopped liking lotr, not to hyped
Prometheus; Eh, looks silly. But my friends want to see it so, ok
The Great Gatsby. So strange!!! What's 3D, the blue light? lol. But its a great book with a fantastic actor (Leo)
Skyfall-007 Baby!!! I love James Bond and have seen every one in theater (that I've been alive for) except Goldeneye.
The Dark Knight Rises- Lets go Batman!!! Coolest superhero ever! Its a shame theres no joker or 2 face though. But we get Catwomen and mayhaps sexy Taji Al Ghul
Men in Black III- Looks silly, but I liked the first 2
The Amazing Spider-Man- This movie looks awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!! You saw the 3d commercial? Holy shit! I can't wait for Spidy!

All the other movies look stupid

I'm going with Avengers, as its the only really good movie I saw this year. Battleship was also enjoyable.

I'm mostly looking forward to the Hobbit, Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall and Spider-Man.

It will be hard to top cabin in the woods for me. I'm not a Whedon fanboy though I like a lot of his stuff, but this was about as good and fun of a movie as I've ever seen. It will be watchable and quotable like Scott pilgrim and Kung fu hustle and princess bride. Just great.

:agree:

I would be shocked if I enjoyed a movie more this year than Cabin in the Woods. I personally liked John Carter enough to pick up the Blu ray when it comes out in a week or so as well.

I never got to see John Carter :(

But yeah, my top three are so close together, I had trouble with the order.

Before I heard about the backlash at the 48 fps on The Hobbit, if you would have asked me, this year was all about The Hobbit. Now... I don't know. The idea was cool to me, but from what all I've read, I'm just like... eh.

I actually really liked John Carter and I'm sad that it bombed because I was hoping for a sequel.

The ones taht I'm looking forward to the most at the moment are:

Django Unchained - been a while since i got to enjoy a new Tarantino-movie. They are always good even though i don't know too much about this movie yet. Kill Bill vol.3 in some one or two years will be good too.

The Dark Knight Rises- have been looking forward to this one for two years now, and is the most anticipated movie for me. Nolan always satisfies, and this one will be excellent, maybe not top the last one, but i certainly think it will be up there with Begins.

The Hobbit - The sequel to one of the greatest series ever, if not the greatest of them all. The feeling you get in Middle-Earth can't be found in any other world, IMO.

Prometheus - Interesting to see how this does, great cast and the swede Noomis first leading role. I hope she does her country proud.

Skyfall - Great trailer, great acting.

The Amazing Spider-Man - yes, they are milking for money, but the idea and the setting seem nice enough.

The Avengers - really want to see this one. Great ensemble cast and a great movie according to the rumors.

It's not a movie in 2012 , but The Room with Tommy Wiseau is terrific , such great acting and so much depth to the characters

The question if battleship was also enjoyable is a discussion for another thread entirely.
The only point I will make is that its a goddamn shame that they can make this movie based on a board game and Battleship Yamamoto but still fail to make a Robotech live action movie.
