Even tho in the novels Jaqen does appear in Crows (not as Jaqen).... it is so brief that blink and you would miss it.

That's what I mean, it would be so unnecessary to change Jaqen's story-line just to make him the kindly old man. It won't work if he's the one who shows her the house of Black and White because he'll still have to leave as fast as he can and get to Oldtown. I truly don't want them to change him going to Oldtown and 'becoming' Pate. Since the speculation is that he's there to get the book on how to kill dragons, his role in the future books may be pretty big. I wouldn't want some made-up character getting the credit in the show if they rather make Jaqen the Kindly Old man. They'd even have to make up another random FM to impersonate Pate and follow up on Sam's story-line.

I just can't see it in the long run.

Kind of off-topic but I really wanted to post this somewhere and didn't want to make a thread for it.

T

o play a trick on its young star, show-runners David Bienoff and D.B. Weiss sent Allen a fake script for the finale. “They kind of added a scene where Bran jumps out and stabs me in the chest and says, ‘This is my Winterfell, not yours,’ ” says Allen. “And [the instruction] goes, ‘Theon lies on the floor dead.’

“I think after about two or three weeks the guys I was shooting with said, ‘Guys, you should call him up and tell him it’s a joke because he might be sitting there torturing himself, pulling his hair out.’

This is brilliance. Pure, brilliance!

There's actually a video of Richard Madden explaining that here. If anyone is interested. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=pSQAGHyPTc0

Barristan the Bold will appear in the next episode: 'I know with Daenerys, she goes to the House of the Undying and maybe you'll see a character pop up who was in series one and [was not] in series two — we'll just see.'

I can't think of any other character that may be able to appear in Essos with Dany. Well, actually I do, perhaps Petyr 'Teleport' Baelish.

I thought that we had a still from production of what looked to be Sean Bean in chains that had never been seen before. It could be him returning in the HotU as a vision.

My understanding is that still was supposed to be a flashback of Brandon and Rickard Stark being killed by the Mad King.  I'd love it if it showed up in Dany's visions tonight, giving her a glimpse of what her father was really like!

That was actually Sean Bean’s body-double whom they filmed in that scene.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were avoiding the TOJ and Rhaegar angles (this early in the tv series) to not make certain storylines too blatant.  Seeing a scene would be much more exposing than interpreting a passage in a book.

^ Yeah TOJ in particular would seem super obvious.  If thats the Rhaegar scene it seems pretty early to be introducing that to the audience b/c it likely wouldn't happen for at least 3 years and seems very unlikely that the audience would understand it at all.  I bet they keep it limited to character already seen, or storylines to be started next year.

Less than 3 hours, folks!  :)

Then we get to wait a damn year for Season 3...  :(

Thank God for DVR technology.  I'll rewatch the season 4 times between tonight and when the DVDs come out.

Yeah, this is the episode I've been expecting for a year: not Blackwater, but this one... like I said opening the thread:

- HotU.
- Jon vs Qhorin.
- Sack of Winterfell.
- Return of Barristan ?
- Final dialogue with Jaqen.
- Brienne and Jaime moments.
- Joffrey's rewards.
- Three blasts.

Damn, this episode gotta be awesome !

Anyone think that the Jaime/Brienne storyline will end with Jaime losing his hand? Or will they save that for next season?

Or, you could follow the advice of a member over at WiC.  (I haven't checked the math yet, but hey, it sounds like a plan!)

If I watch 12.8 seconds of this final episode each day, I should finish in time for the season 3 premiere. Time to ration #GameOfThrones.
