I believe it was to establish Tywin as a character more. Most of what we know of Tywin in the books is gleamed from the inner monologues of Tyrion and the twins. With TV, you have to show rather than tell. Also, the relationship between Arya and Tywin was one of the few changes in the series that I'm actually glad they made. It humanises Tywin and made for a much more compelling character interaction than Weasel and Roose.

Robb was at the doorstep of his castle&home casterly rock, he clearly meant Robb.
