Lyanna Stark

Arya of Winterfell

Recommended Posts

Ooh. Old thread but I couldn't but comment.

Eva Green seriously? I think she wont be even able to pick up a real sword, forget swinging a jousting sword.

Katie seemed strong and better suited, but how weird would it be to see a person in two different series with similar roles?

Lyanna is Eddard's sister.

1)She must be tall like Sophie Turner and Sean Bean.

2)Must be strong, not anorexic to give a realistic sword fighter.(Not as big as Brienne though :P )

3) Must have a confident air about her

4) Must be really beautiful for Rhaegar to fall for her

I think such a role will be perfect for someone from the porn industry :P (like Shae ad Ros)

Sean Bean is just 3-4 cm taller than Sophie Turner. She's really tall for a girl (she's a strong 5'8, maybe even 5'9), and Sean is average for a man (5'10).

In fact, the Stark family is not really tall. Kit Harington is 5'7, or 170 cm, Richard Madden is 5'9 (175cm), Maisie Williams is 5'0 (152 cm, Sophie has more than 8 inches on her), and Michelle Fairley is 5'5 (165 cm).

So, tall or short shouldn't really be a problem. The Lannisters have the same problem.

Hmm. I agree with that.

zdunno why but Sophie and Sean bean "look" really tall :)

I just hope Lyanna looks atleast something like the statue they showed us

Many actors are actually far smaller than what they appear on screen. There are some amazing camera tricks out there.

It will be really interesting to see who they would cast as Lyanna, if they ever end up doing a prequel style segment of the show. I think they will probably cast a complete unknown (hopefully an actual northerner too!) :)

Saying that, I've always thought Adelaide Kane would be a good casting choice for L.

You know who's gonna be the perfect Lyanna it's: grapecider {rachel} from YouTube and i dare anyone who says she doesn't look like Arya Stark. She Also loves acting. Here's one of her videos :

Hmm she does.

But she also looks too "innocent" even though she pops her eyes out

She could be Aryas double :D

The show has increased age of all characters. Jon snow is supposed to be 14, yet show has him as around 20. So this girl looks to young? :)

I think D&D cast arya for her extremely good acting for a small child.

They neednt cast someone who looks like arya for Lyanna. I think what matters is someone who fits the role.

(Books did say Arya and Lyanna looked similar. But look at all the other castings. They neednt follow book looks)

Out of the conventional choices, I like Katie McGrath and Jessica Brown-Findlay the best. Hat tip to Gemma Arterton, who could be good for the role but age might be an issue. (Katie is older but just looks young, while Gemma Arterton has always kind of looked older than her years.)

I think some people are making way too much of the "wild beauty" comment. Which was, first, made by a Lannister, hardly an unbiased source; they probably associate anything to do with the North with "wildness". It's led people to choose "exotic" looking actresses that frankly would fit Cersei or Melisandre (or even Arianne) better than Lyanna.

I'd go the complete opposite route. An "English rose" type or plain beauty, light eyes, pale, serious face. Seems to fit the northern clime better.

That youtube star someone linked a couple posts up looks so much like an older, more beautiful Arya that it's hilarious. There's a potential dark horse candidate!

The Labyrinth has both Jessica Brown Findlay and Katie Mcgrath playing medieval characters so we can see who fits better.

Interesting fact: the two actually did a nude scene together in the show, which I'm pretty sure is Robert Baratheon's home page.

So here are the actresses who has been suggested so far:

My personal favourite:

  • Katie Mcgrath - (Merlin) Katie looks just like Maisie Williams in this picture.

It's funny how you say that, because in that picture I think she looks way more like Keira Knightley than she does Maisie. Around the mouth, chin and eyes in particular, almost a dead ringer for Keira.

The second one is kind of how I pictured Lyanna. However, she's already 31. If they ever do a prequel, they'd probably need to find somebody Sophie Turner's or Maisie Williams' age now to do a prequel in a few years.

Somebody like Odeya Rush?

Never been able to see anyone except Katie Mcgrath as Lyanna. Anyone think they'll ever actually show Lyanna and Rhaegar in a flashback now that that's a viable option? But seriously. As soon as I read about her, Lyanna was Katie Mcgrath in my mind. Probably because of her character in Merlin, but she's spot on - strong, beautiful in an effortless, natural, almost unaware kind of way.

So true. She's my top pick. And the Downton Abby, Jessica Brown Findlay as a close 2nd.

.

I agree 100% with this, to me "wild beauty" in relation to Lyanna just meant tha she had a certain "untamed" streak to her character, like having an affinity for sword fighting and probably other "boyish" interests as she grew up.

To me Lyanna seems to have in some ways combined the best aspects of Sansa and Arya (at home in the rough cuture of the North, but at the same time refined and laldylike if she wished to) Katie McGarth would be perfect.

Out of all actresses suggested I think Katie McGrath takes the cake, easily. She's pretty much spot on Lyanna, which sucks because I won't be able to buy anybody else as Lyanna now. I don't think her age would be a problem if she were to appear in the next 2 seasons. Practically every actor is older (if not significantly older) than their characters anyway. It wouldn't stick out.

After forcing myself to watch several seasons of Merlin, I just don't see Katie McGrath as Lyanna. Probably because she just doesn't seem like a very good actress to me. And she comes across as far too pompous and self-important in that show. I haven't seen anything else of her work though.

Kaya Scodelario remains my #1 pick, but after seeing a couple of fan videos starring Jessica Brown-Finlay, I could probably get behind her as well.

^ To be fair, Merlin was terribly written and everyone in it comes across as pompous and self-important.

Though Kaya Scodelario would fit as well. She'd be different, but I do admit, and this will sound strange, she does look like a Winter Rose.

And on the topic of terrible British shows set in the Middle Ages....has anybody suggested Lucy Griffiths yet?
