I understand why didn't show the wolf head one. Pretty much all my non book reader friends think that Robb is going to die somehow, and if they showed that it would just confirm it. I'd like the RW to be as much of a surprise as possible, because it's so much more emotional and tragic that way IMO. As for the other ones, all the "threes," I do wish they had included those somehow, because it adds a lot more complexity to Dany's character rather than the "RAWR FIRE AND BLOOOOOD" thing that she's been doing so far. Perhaps they'll find a way to include them in season 3, maybe from another source?

I think i was expecting more for the house of the undying scenes, but even with the way the show is with no flashbacks was still good. i actually cried a river through out the ep. I enjoy watching Stannis as much as i did reading the books. AND! I found out i was pronouncing Valar Morghulis right all this time! yay for me~

Come on, let's be serious.
The Sack of Winterfell was almost funny. In aCok I was like "OMG Reek is actually...OMG OOOOMG is he dead? I don't get it, IS THEON DEAD???". In this episode I was like "hahahahahahah" when he was hit.
The House of the Undying... I hoped we could see good old Rhaegar. I read the books after watching season 1 and I didn't know he had ever existed. His name must have been pronounced once in the whole series, in "The Kingsroad" in season 1. This was the right time to show him. He wasn't there.
These are my main complaints.
(thumbs up to the line "thank you, wise bald man! Thank you for explaining siege tactics to me!". That one I liked.)

Season enders' cliffhangers is a requisite. Without a doubt, witnessing the white walkers (and ignoring/passing-by Sam) at the end of the episode made me want to ride a time machine and travel to March 31, 2013! It was like GoT meets The Walking Dead. LOL. Queer to think, aye. Let's see if they can pass the beyond south the Wall soon enough. Next thing I love about this episode was the part where Shae said: "You have a shit memory. I am yours and you are mine." And then Tyrion BURSTED into tears with that very compelling reaction, it made my eyes watery for quite a while. CHEERS FOR PETER DINKLAGE! COMPELLING! Well of course we know that Tyrion was scarcely given love and acceptance by his family. I wonder how their love will blossom til the next season. Next up, the very handsome and dashing Jaqen H'ghar turned in to someone not so handsome and dashing as we have seen him few episodes before. We have also known that he is part of The Faceless Man. But what highlighted this episode the most is Daenerys Targaryen in the House of the Undying. The last temptation with Khal Drogo made me laugh and cry at the same time. "Dracarys" she said and her dragons started to throw flames on the sorcerer. Wicked! We will be seeing and expecting a lot from Khaleesi especially on the 5th book.

Pros:
Theon's conversation with Luwin
Theon's battle speech
The ceremony in the Red Keep
Arya
Jaime and Brienne (but I think they have made Brienne too violent too soon)
Cons:
Jon
Daenerys
Actual sacking of Winterfell
Tyrion and Shae (they have changed Shae way too much, especially when you look at what happens in aSoS)
Ending (should have just had the three horn blasts then credits. Anti-climatic but less cheesy)

Really the only thing that stopped this from being a ten was the house of the undying, but let's be honest, they've fucked Dany up so much this season, was anyone expecting anything less? I even liked her walking out of the Throne room to the other side of the wall, considering that's where her real war will be, but the way she was chained and killed Pyat Pree was just...I'm convinced D&D are part of the crew that hate Dany and are trying as hard as they can to make the T.V. folk do the same.
Agreed.
What some people need to understand is that there comes a point where... trying to avoid cliche's at all costs becomes a cliche' in itself, and perhaps the most pointless and worthless one of all.
I give this a 9.
Most of what got it over the top was the devastating ending scene.
It's real.
Its coming.
And all of Westeros is playing into the hands of the Wendigo.
(improper term? I calls 'em as I seems 'em)
The very first scene of the 1st episode was north of the wall, and so was this one. This confirms my old theory that everything that is going to happen here hinges on the wall. Dani might be the key to a future that includes human survival somewhere in the 7 Kingdumbs, but that damn Wall is where the fates will be decided.
The rest of it, all the self-destructive madness going on inside Westeros, is just window-dressing... albeit the most engrossing window-dressing I have ever encountered.
Most infuriating was the way the half-man has been shelved. I hope he catches the next ship headed for Qarth, ASAP.
To be honest, I had avoided this series for a couple of years, thought it was just another Tudors kind of thing. Just this month I saw the 1st season and then bought the boxed set of season #2 sight-unseen, a first for me.
So, yeah, just a newbie looking for the books now, so take what just I said at face value.

They spend most of the money on Episode 9 and it shows. That Episode is really great, probably the best one of all 20.
